I know Everything about this too.

Very interesting. Thanks for that Rounder. I like coming back and rereading things like this because each time I do, it goes a littlle deeper.

I have another question: your sig? Thats from the book/movie Fight Club isn’t it? What’s its significance to you?

Yeah lol, that quote is actually from the book, they changed it a little in the movie. Fight club is my favorite movie of all time!!, and everytime I watch it at the end when the Pixies song “where is my mind” comes in and the towers tumble I always feel good. Fight club rings strongly with me. I strongly agree with views against materialism, self image, and ‘becoming’(everyones ultimate quest for being perfect or complete). I think its very important for society to evolve from this narcisistic era we are all in, In fight club there are constant referances to dissolving the self, and giving up the ego, you know “you are not you’re Fawking Khakis”, and “you are not a special and unique snowflake, we are the all seeing all dancing crap of the world”, “I say stop being perfect, never be complete, let the chips fall where they may, lets evolve”. Tyler Durden is always trying to get his counterpart to let go and experience life as it is. “Don’t deal with it the way those dead people do, this is your pain, right here”. This I think is one of the most important things, to let go of it all and just live in the moment, good or bad, ugly or beautiful. Today what I see is that the society we live in today stifles people, puts them to sleep, and people become sheep. People really need to wake up. The only thing I don’t agree with is the necessity of actually fighting, but it ends when they become a cohisive unit, it goes well with the story line, and it just serves as a path to enlightenment.

“Martha’s policy is like the brass rails on the titanic, its all going down”

Anyways yeah most of the views expressed in fight club I strongly agree with, and no other movie or book(fiction) has rang as true with what I personally see as the problems with society.

K so thats a little off topic, maybe I should start a new thread “Pop culture philosophy” or something to that end.

Well I never… Who would have thought a Hollywood movie with Brad Pitt in it would have been anti narcistic, anti self image???

It obviously isn’t for me… Over the years I have lost all my beliefs, faith and hopes and only have the love of money, beauty and eveything shallow to hang on to. Take these away and down I go… like the proverbial brass rail on the Titanic.
