iii) We are not here to do your homework

If you haven’t done your essay due in tomorrow, you’ve come to the wrong place. Organise your time better, read some books, copy someone elses essay. Whatever you do, just don’t come here.

sniff sniff

yep i smell a jackass everyone…

its not for homework
i volunteered for the position, i wasnt told to do anything
i’m doing it under my own free will
so excuse me for asking for input on philosophical ideas.

oh, thanks for moving my post to mundane babble by the way…
after all a philosophy related topic IS more suited here…

i smell a jackass too. it’s the guy who is an ass and then jacks it up by arguing about it.

Deep S.,

At least present some idea you’ve come up with, instead of just asking for anyone’s idea from scratch. Then, we could critique it.

yah, that we could do. nice one arendt

I wouldn’t go round implying Imp is a jackass. He’s a moderator, one of the most popular posters here and has a unique brand of justice that, believe me, you don’t want to experience if you can help it.

It is.

Offer some imput, you’ll get plenty of feedback. Ask for input and you’ll get moderated. It’s simple, really.

You’ve got to play the game. If you came on this forum and found a post saying ‘this is something, what do you think about it?’ would you feel encouraged to respond? No, of course not. However if you find a post saying ‘these are some musings/arguments, what do you make of them?’ then you are much more likely to read the post and talk about it.

You must have some ideas yourself, offer them and people will respect you enough to offer other suggestions.

On these forums it is worth noting that the Rant House and Mundane Babble are relatively unmoderated and you can talk about more or less anything. In the Philosophy forums you have to provide some philosophical information or your thread will be moved or deleted. The moderators here have no time for posts which contribute nothing but ask for something. This is a public, communal forum to which we should all try to contribute interesting, informed discussions.

I was the star of my debating society at school. I convinced a room full of Atheists to believe in God (despite being, at that time, an Atheist), I convinced a room full of liberals that Euthanasia was a good policy. Fun times.
