I'd like to get banned please

Lol. Not to worry. This site is rapidly descending into a porn palace, with a little philosophy on the side. It’s been trending that way for quite a while, but now it’s truly pornographic. I’ve never seen a site like this do that. They usually move from less to more restrictive moderation, or else go under with spam ads.

Churro man, for fuck’s sake, get some self-discipline and just don’t log on if you’re worried/exasperated about the amount of time you apparently waste here. This is just childish bullshit.

Yeah sure, cos you been here so long that you know everything huh…? Churro’s a decent poster most of the time, maybe a little back story before you come over all judgemental perhaps…? And ‘trending’ ain’t a word.

Churro has been banned for the posting of hardcore pornography, with no disclaimer, at that.

I will send an E-Mail to Churro to make sure he is certain he wants to be banned.

Oh heck i missed the porn??? always late never early, blast it. Knowing Churro it was probably pretty artsy and good.

I saw it. It was neither. I’m surprised he got banned for it, since there is so much porn posted here that just gets ignored. Of course, he challenged the mods with it and it wasn’t part of a pretend discussion either, so that probably made the difference.

where have i been? I have yet to see any Porn or what I would call Porn.

It’s posted on various threads. It’s part and parcel of the rampant sexism and homophobia that pervades this board. At one point I was thinking that the site should be renamed I Love Pornography.

Actually, it brings to mind a serious issue for this new society where everything is available to everyone electronically… and this includes porn. It’s as though nothing is private any more. Anyone can come here, pretend to have discussions, and spread a lot of sexism, homophobia, and porn without compunction. It’s a public forum, so if I do not wish to look at porn, that is not an option if someone posts it.

In my view, porn is degrading to women, exploitative, and part of the way an oppressive society works. It is also available to children now. As a hypothetical example, take this site where I’m sure parents post, some of them also posting porn. Then suppose their pre-teen or teen child gets curious about their parent’s participation in a so-called “philosophy” site and explores it. What do they see but the parent has posted porn on some of that parent’s threads. So then one day the parent finds their child exploring porn sites and they disapprove and try to correct that behavior. But what does the child say but, you do it. I saw your posts. It’s everywhere.

Thats a gross generalistation.

The porn I watch doesn’t even have any women.

Children don’t want to watch porn. They are suprisingly indifferent to sex in general - any curiosity they have is spawned entirely from adults explicit secrecy about the issue. Why would a pre-pubescent child care if someone was naked? It means nothing to them.

jonquil I would agree that porn can be exploitive to the women involved if they are forced into it. But women I have known in the industry see nothing wrong with using their body to make money. if they do not see it as wrong how can I ?
Brevel has the right of it, about the children. It was not until a friend pointed out in front of our son that Playboy mags were inapropriate for to have around our son, that our boy decided to be secretive about looking at mags. Before that our boy only looked at the vehicles the girls were draped over. Nudity was not a problem nor interesting. We had a hell of a time getting him over that problem after he realized the world thought of nude women and men in intimate poses as horrible dirty nasty and wrong. He inheireted the mags for his 17th birthday a gift from father to son. Not my idea, not my idea of a good gift but, hey it had nothing to do with me. I would not have a say in it.
I do like playboy as a porn mag for it has some good articles, darn good jokes and the photos are art. The ladies are tastefully posed for the most part unlike penthouse.
Sex and Porn are only wrong because it is percieved as exploitive and wrong. That is where porn makes its money. It would not be such a lucrative business if people accepted sex as natural moral and harmless. No I do not approve of sex with minors or between minors. Any adult that is a pedophiliac needs to be taken out and shot. I think sometimes this society gets really wrought up about some petty things.

How can it be exploitive toward women when they choose to engage in it; and get thousands of dollars for their efforts?

you can just as easily say porn is exploiting the sex drive of men (women arethe ones getting paid)
…you cant say things like that though. porn is just ‘exploiting’ sex. period

and look around you. this is a society of liberated women. objectify beautiful women and that gives every woman the power

and if my kid wanted to watch porn…well i’d just let him keep on watching :banana-dance:

dude i’ve been jerking off since i was 5 (maybe even 4. just remember it was the house i turned 5 in) my first ‘porn’ was basic instinct. i watched that fucker all the time
nothing came out though lol

We really need a TMI forum.

Did you go blind?

I just grew hair on my palms and got the herpes

 =D> Seconded.

I said hardcore pornography, there’s a qualifier there. He also specifically asked to be banned, which is the purpose of this thread. The pornography then also becomes patently non-topical, he could have just publicly asked to be banned and then I would have asked him if he was sure and then banned him if he affirmed.

The only difference between this and asking to be banned is that I’m not going to ask him in this thread if he wants to be banned because he might just respond with more hardcore pornography, so I’ve E-mailed him and he hasn’t replied. He’s been here awhile, might not even use that E-mail address anymore, but oh well.

He could just register as a different user, and if he politely asks someone to unban his Churro account we might do it. He still gets a Warning for the infraction, so he’d have to be banned for a week anyway, but it may have already been a week.

As far as whether or not anyone is posting pornography, pornography is a subjective term. Obviously, I don’t read every single thread. I read every thread in Social Sciences and try to read every thread in Forums not assigned a specific Moderator, but I can’t always keep up with all of those. I’ve seen some photos that I’ve considered racy, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think I’ve run across anything I would patently consider pornographic…at least in recent memory.

Also, please feel free to do a Report on anything that you think constitutes pornography, or send a PM, with the exception of all of the Moderators, Reports are Anonymous, and PM’s are Anonymous and only inclusive to whatever Mod(s) you PM.

I hate it when people do these big, theatrical exits from message boards.

If you wanna leave, just stop posting, Its that easy. Nobody needs a load of fuss and a list of reasons why your leaving or one (or in this case several) threads dedicated to the event.

It’s tougher than that for some people. For some people this experience can be mildly addictive, for others it can be heavily addictive. I think it can be indexed to some combination of interest, boredom and lonliness.

For instance, I started posting here because I had a passing interest in Philosophy and what I did with my downtime at work was becoming redundant, so I found this site and started posting. It gets to the point sometimes where I make sure to find time to come on and throw a few posts out there even when I don’t have downtime; I’m actually a very busy person. At the same time, though, my days off are reserved for my family almost exclusively, so you’ll almost never see me on here on a Wednesday and if you do, it’s because the schedule got changed for some reason!

The point is, on occasion, I can’t resist but to come here. However, if I worked at a place with no Internet access (or alternatively, no downtime) I’d probably resign as a Moderator and pop in here once a week or so.

Anyway, Churro has been posting furiously for the last few weeks. I think he was pretty addicted to the site for a time, he was almost always on and responded to almost every thread. He might just need a break, time will tell. It’s just a case where he didn’t have the willpower to quit posting and had to be banned.

I don’t know why people associate so much to a handle, but it seems to help (for the most part) when someone’s handle gets banned by request. They usually don’t come back, at least, not for awhile. They could always create a different account, but they usually don’t, not as far as I can tell anyway.
