if humans are not perfect, then how can god be perfect?

God I deem is good, but is he perfect ?

" Why do you call me good? No man is good, cept God himself", said jesus.

In the book of SAmuel, God choosen Saul to be the first king of Israel, then Saul disobey God’s commands, then God says he regret that he has choosen Saul

In the Samuel 2 : God said to David, your son will build the temple for me. Then David when to covet Bethsheba.

Fredrich Nietzche said in his poem, God has created all things perfect, the sun water, land, animals, except for human beings, so how can we call him perfect.

God did create human beings perfect. He just gave us the choice to be imperfect and we took it.

Wouldn’t the ability to make that err preclude the possibility that we were perfect?

He put the choice of whether or not to err in our hands. He was free of whatever choice we made. Free will means that he is completely absolved of responsibility if we make a bad decision. God is still perfect, but we generally don’t want to face the consequences of our being imperfect.

I don’t think so. If perfection makes us, well, perfect, then the ability to deviate from perfection still must be viewed as a design flaw. Still, we humans can at least can boast to have conceived perfection when we invented god(s).

Who cares? Why such a big deal about being perfect anyway?

Oh, wait a minute … :astonished:

If we aren’t perfect, we go to Hell, or at least get into hot water in myriad other ways. :frowning:

So if we somehow attach ourselves to the God-part of Jesus, we can hitch a perfect ride aboard him to compensate for our imperfect lack of ability to walk into Heaven, and myriad other cooler places, on our own.

"Hosanna
Hey Sanna Sanna Sanna Hosanna
Hey Sanna Hosanna
Hey JC, JC you’re alright by me
Sanna Hosanna
Hey Superstar … "

we are perfect, because we have the choice of being imperfect =D>

I think we are done, and Nietchze was wrong. For shame who have study him for years in vain. :frowning: Glad that I didn’t.

Who says we are not perfect? Maybe only human judgement considers humans not perfect, but God considers humans perfect.

Ummm, it seems to me that as a creator, and we as the created, God wouldn’t answer to us. Quite the reverse. God could be whatever he chooses without any input from what he has created. It’s a question with no possible answer.

That’s why God is not human.

There are some who believe that God is trying to and wants to become human.

If ‘cept’ means except, the phrase implies that God is a man. The perfect man.

That, together with the Bible, implies that most of us are not human, but failed attempts of God to create a human.
This is a tenable position. Hardly any of us really are what we intuitively know we could be - if only not all other people were holding us back.
Perhaps the hermit and the rockstar are Gods serious attempts, and the rest of us are preparations for these attempts. Calculated errors.

god is the perfect human? striving to become human?

Why would ADam was said that he was created in the divine image of God?

What is the divine image of God? Or must I post anther thread for you religionholics.

I find that many people have a problem with this idea simply because they don’t see the purpose of creating a being with free will. Consider that if he did create us perfect, we would be like robots that were programmed to do only right, what glory or satisfaction is it to make something that only did what you expected. Its no accident that we have the same feelings when someone chooses to be kind or give love to us, or some event goes to our liking even though all the elements were against it. Its like a rollercoaster, with the slow drudgery of the hills there would be no thrill of the race down them. Also consider that God wanted to have companionship with like minded souls, people who choose to be selfless instead of selfish, this is the key to understanding the need for a separation or what many call hell.

Who wants company with a axe murdering child cannibal? The fact that we are all mixed together grooms the better half so they can mature and rise to the top; this is the whole purpose of humans from Gods point of view IMO.

Consider that one cannot create a sentient being without free will, because the two are mutually inclusive.

I agree. From my observations I see evidence that we are different from the rest of the animal kingdom in that we humans are aware of our existence and death.

[-X But Kingdaddy , Nelson Pike in “God and Evil” and you make too much of the robot point as that undermines your case! See the new thread on the definitive refuation of the free will argument. =D>

Lol, funny topic.

So the first question is how can God be perfect and create imperfection. Easily, let it run free. Uh… no I couldn’t have that easily… must be harder than this…

An analogy, maybe that will suffice.

ah hah!

God wouldn’t necessarily be perfect if he couldn’t choose to make things imperfect… haha. That’s better. I’m not saying he did, but free will… free will… free will… this concept needs to be beaten into us at birth possibly and maybe anti-theists and the like would consider this before an argument… ah yes. (not saying this pertains to this thread necessarily, even though some of you would like it to  ) sorry can’t catch me.

Oh side note, glad some of you are picking up on the fact Neitzsche can’t really even be that creditible. Unless you like using an insane man who screamed out bible versus in his ending days. Lol, I don’t want that to happen to any of you, be careful, Neitzsche was a heads up to some of you. Christianity can be a pain in the rear to argue, but a blessing to defend I must say.
