What would you say [take as much time as you please] if you had the opportunity to step up to a world-wide microphone , and had everybody’s attention, to say something or some things that would be helpful to the world?
Conrad Hilton was asked this question on the Mike Douglas show, by the host Mike Douglas.
Hilton replied: “Ladies and gentlemen, please, keep the shower curtain on the inside of the tub.”
Being a writer, i asked this same question on a writer’s forum. I was surprized that nobody had anything.
What better place to ask this question, than on a philosophy forum. I suspect that deep thinkers were drawn to this site . solely because of the website name.
One doesn’t just stumble upon, and register, at a forum called “i love philosophy”.
Whats wrong with America? The world? How can we fix it?
I’d like to see a reality TV show called “Open Mic” , and sit in front of my TV to watch the things people would say if they had a chance to step up to a mic in prime time, with all of America watching, to hear what they had to say.
I’d tell everyone to burn the last 100 pages or so of Atlas Shrugged with the zest of a communal orgy, then break into a rousing rendition of Que Sera.
Hmm, so you’re looking for a genuinely original and innovative idea? They are incredibly hard to come by, and it’s what makes a genius a genius I think.
If you want a serious answer, I think your question is fundamentally flawed. There is nothing I would say to ‘everybody’. The audience is too broad. People are of different motivations, capabilities, situations, potentials, orientations, etc. For any real affect, the conversation needs to be localized and particular. Any global speech making about peace or a better world strikes me as vain.
