If you have no fear or hesitation to answer....

it’d be interesting to know who do you vote for? I myself am a voter of the “Progressive Party of the Working People”(AKEL) in Cyprus. We have a candidate for presidency for the first time in our history, and he is maybe 1 point behind the current President in Opinion Polls.

I’ve only ever voted twice, and that was a left wing vote - I don’t wanna vote, and don’t care if it’s a wasted vote.

Can you really sell your votes, Tortoise?

Sure you can sell your votes thats why buying votes is illegal. I don’t know if selling your vote is illegal… Hmm, I forget. If you find a buyer at a good price let me know, its worth a shot if the price is right.

:-k

…something to think about come voting day: though I don’t know how to go about ‘touting a vote’ :-s

I may look into it - is it a prisonable offense?

Lets let Tortoise try first, if its not then, well there are plenty of elections. Go ahead Tortoise you go first. Um , wait Magsj, You are in england right, I may be mistaken but, I thought you were? I am in USA, I think Tortoise is here too. Laws may be different…

I think it may well be illegal here too, Kriswest #-o I shall look into it…

…er, yeah, let us know how it goes, Tortoise? quite the anarchic little bunny, aren’t you, T

I do hate wasting my vote each year though, and I’ve wasted 18 years worth of votes

If the English Wiki article on AKEL is in any way accurate, I’m sold on the party symbol alone  Their policies also seem quite sensible insofar as I can see and infer, so I’ll say kudos to you!

In terms of the American election (which is where I’ll be voting), my vote is somewhat contingent. If there is a clear front-runner by the time the primary reaches Indiana, I’ll be voting for Kucinich. In terms of the three leading dems, I like Edwards the best, followed by Obama, with Hillary trailing, so if it seems close by then I’ll back them in that order depending on the situation. When the general election comes, I’ll just circle the bubble that says “straight ticket democrat” and be done with it.

hahahaha i’m going to bribe someone to vote for comrade christofias( my party’s candidate), i guess it’s useful to do that especially when opinion polls separate the first and third candidate by only 2 points

i personally am disappointed that the party is forced to take pro market decisions but i guess you can’t alienate capital too much if you want to be in power

I saw part of the debate last night between the Demos. I must say Hilary had me leaning towards to choosing her. Totally utterly against what I would have suspected. Obama and the guys seemed too civilized. She struck me as being ready for a fight. She actually made sense on several subjects, I liked that. Now will I vote for her? No. I don’t trust that woman, she is a political lawyer and knows how to put on an act.

Are the American elections coming up soon?

Haven’t been watching the news lately - too depressing

Yea, but, I forget which month, towards the end of the year. News is always depressing reporters are alike the world over because humans are alike.,Morbid.

So, you guys have about a year to way-up the pros and cons: before you have to make the immense decision to put your country in the hands of ‘some-one’.

…yes, news, depressing - I’ve cut-back on my TV viewing over the last few months, but just watch intellectual game-shows, chat-shows, MTV Dance, MTV Base, or Kerrang.

I don’t even know when our next general election is, but I soon will when they start knocking on my door to try and sell their party’s policies to me, or post their political literature through my letter-box. Fun fun fun!

just don’t vote BNP or Conservative!

BNP? hardly, I’m Caribbean

Conservative? I’m gonna see what their policies are saying, but it’s not like they stick to them or anything :unamused: I just might not vote at all, if all the party’s policies are saying nothing sound!

hahaha that’s a pretty good not to give them your vote then

hahahaha i just found out on the net that I can vote in UK elections if I get registered

How come?

because i’m a citizen of a Commonwealth country(Cyprus)

i could possibly vote in Russian, Turkish and Kazak elections if I wanted to but i’d have to apply for citizenship. but apparently i don’t have to change anything all i have to do is
register and guarantee that i won’t vote in Cypriot elections. LOL that’s 4 years worth of votes for the Socialist Worker’s Party from me then

i think it’s pretty stupid actually, for foreign citizens to vote in another country’s local elections( never mind the EU parliament ones)

I never knew that :astonished: that is odd…

i just found out a moment ago while googling. i haven’t heard of a similar situation anywhere else
