One should not speak so boldly lest one is prepared to act boldly.
I believe you should elaborate on the details of your kingdom Dan, being as technocracy like every other notable idealism requires a great deal of work to change the world we live in today. How would you achieve it? Perhaps the brief one or two-hundred year interlude of a neofascist police state terror and destruction to cleanse the world anew?
The world has not seen the likes of absolute power since Louis XIV, and even after him there were those with the powers of near-unlimited absolutism. Would it not be interesting to see things revert to the days of Roman Ceasars with the institution of the Imperial Cult? Yet you ask of us if we had this dangerous power of absolutism. Would we be so bold as to build a Versailles of our own and prance daintily in woman’s stockings to the music and form of ballet? (Not that I would but I’m sure Louis did…)
So yes, let’s say for all argumentation, that a period of anarchismical madness would be required to destroy the old to make way for the new. (The Days of the New that is…) The question is, who will be “cleansed”? [With the power of the American Military, why stop on a national level? Would it become prudent to bring the full forced of American might down upon other countries in a near-effortless display of subjugation?]
For the sake of this thread, I will contribute by offering at the very least, one commandment of my would be glorious empire: ERADICATE THE EXISTENCE OF WALMART, KMART, TARGET, AND SIMILAR CORPORATE ENITIES… PERMANANTLY… and furthermore, prevent the future rising of such stores with extreme prejudice.
If one is to play god, one must be both ruthless and compassionate.
LOL! I haven’t laughed this good in a long while! Thank you Darko!
Here’s something old I once posted that would further reflect the coming of the New World Order:
1.your welcome
2.that thread had good points+your own views
3.i admire the Protoss , intresting race for just being fiction aren’t they?
4.also i need to re-arrange my thoughts if i can get around to it
I’m glad you enjoyed that thread… I didn’t think anyone besides Gobbo found so much interest in it to the point of desiring to play the game again. I don’t think that game would ever have come into being without the influence of Robert Heinlein, who wrote Starship Troopers in 1959. With Heinlein, I recall there being a race similar to the Protoss which humans called “Skinnies.” (vague memory) Someone should make a StarCraft movie… buy the rights from Blizzard and get crack’in!
Aliens, and even Predator, had to have some influence from Heinlein.
Starship Troopers have had 2 movies out already.
Starcraft as a movie or movie series would probably be to expensive unless they are working with game designers and let it turn out to be something like ; final fantasy the spirits within.
the pic i was reffering to is the one you have below every post ,
it’s very unique in the way that the colours exchange almost static-like
because they always return back to themselves (ie almost like the whole circle kind of thing).
Blizzard has made some awsome game’s , the diablo series was good speaking with the work they put into the enemy creatures and bosses plus it had/has an intresting story behind each one of the 3 games.
I still stand by my comment about the protoss .
maybe i can trace down the book your reffering to , i just started reading over The nature of Balance by Tim Lebbon.
he has a fairly well site as well i enjoy reading over whatever updates come along.
I understand; the fear that fools would risk ruining a good thing. (Final Fantasy would have been a wonderful movie the first time around if they actually based it on one of the old games; like they did with Advent Children the second time around: learning from their mistake.) If you look at the cinematics of the StarCraft games (which were remarkably good for their day), you may find the model of animation displaying influences from Alien, Aliens, Alien Ressurection, and clearly Starship Troopers; but still having some originality.
Ah, the sig banner. With a little effort and some know-how fooling around with Photoshop and ImageReady, you too can shell out something similar.
Diablo has its high points and low… but my favorite aspect of all Blizzard games, mainly Diablo, is the music. Matt Uelmen is one crafty composer I cannot give enough credit to.
One might be wondering at this point that we’ve strayed off the subject… Nonsense! There has been controvery for years about Starship Troopers speaking of a Nazi/Fascist future world (If they had won WW2 that is), and the StarCraft series amply reflects how such a future would come into being; given the link I had provided to an old thread I started long ago… on a site far, far, away.
If you’ll leave me free to mind my own business, I’ll let you do the same.
If I were king I’d put my efforts into eliminating anger as a means to solve problems.
My country would be financed by voluntary donations.
Quack doctors would most likely be lynched by their victims.
As would any others selling snake oil, political or otherwise.
To hell with roads,…get a gyrocopter.
If you don’t help me put out my fire, or catch a theif, you can just exist outside my sphere of acknowledgement.
In fact, if you act in a way I deem inappropriate, by god I’ll just ignore you.
If you continue to force your existence into my sphere, I may just have to kill you. I sure wouldn’t call a cop, they serve satan living as they do on ill gotten gains, and I’d rather not involve him in my problems.
So, my country would run much as the country does today, except those willing to cause harm to their neighbors would run the very real risk of being strung up in the streets.
