i don’t think i should be treated like a god but nor should anyone else. you can appreciate a person’s achievements but don’t treat them as though they are above anyone.

well no not really. everyone should be treated with respect regardless of merit. respect should be a bare minimum in a functioning and civil society.
Some people are heroes. We treat them as such.

Granted, its hypocritical af but we have always been applying standards on a social basis in an “idgaf” manner anyway. old people often demand it. when i speak to an aunt of mine for instance, she often demands i treat her with far more respect than “my mates”. further, take someone like kim jong un for instance. he is so desperate for respect and admiration to the point where he is above criticism. otherwise there are severe consequences.

The only one who should be treated like God is God, and he said to treat everybody the way you would want to be treated, because when you treat anybody like anything, you’re treating God that way, since we’re all made in this image. The only one who is perfect is God. But imagine the people who aren’t perfect are God, or you, and correct/love them the way you/God would want to be corrected/loved.
If I was Trump or anyone else in a position of authority (which means I am held responsible to make sure everyone in my authority is held responsible for their part of the group dynamic—and that I help them achieve their part as far as I am able, and they are not) and I didn’t get my **** together, I would want there to be a coup by people who have their **** together (they don’t help people who don’t need help, and they don’t make life harder for people who do, to start with).

Down with corporate welfare until there is no one in poverty. That means no government subsidies, no tax breaks/shelters, and hold them accountable to pay living wages (especially if they’re profitable) and not hike up prices on essentials DUH. If people can’t run to other countries ‘cause you make this happen globally, I guess they’ll just have to tighten their belts (guess you’ll just have to skip that tummy tuck).
Actually it’s the poor who drive the economy and keep it moving because they spend all their money. Are they also obliged to all be saint-like? I’m pretty sure their personalities and characters are as many and varied as the human race in general.
But hey, lets go back to the Utopia that was life before what you insist on calling ‘socialism’ (without ever defining it or apparently even knowing what it means), say the 1900s and earlier (only a heartbeat of time ago historically).

Who cares about the general standard of living? We want to see people dying in the gutters. It reminds us of how much better we are than them and encourages us all to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and get rich, like our betters in their palaces and castles 
The US used to have a tradition of philalnthropy, where the enormously rich would spend vast sums on things like hospitals, museums, places of learning. They did it to benefit everyone. People were different then. I can’t imagine someone like Trump or those psychopathic arseholes of silicon valley doing it now. Giving to ‘charity’ isn’t the same thing. Charities these days are just huge, moneymaking corporations that pass on only the tiniest portion of donations to whatever cause they claim to be helping. They accumulate enormous wealth. Greed has become something to be admired instead of condemned.
Why are you ‘trying to’ claim something that I did not do?
Now, why do ‘you’ disrespect people until they have done something that earns ‘your respect’?
Or, if ‘you’ did not mean that others have to earn ‘your respect’ before you ‘respect them’, then what does ‘respect is earned’ mean or refer to, exactly?
