we have not had a good chat at ILP in quite some time. I motin we (ben: hint, hint ) set-up a time to chat this Saturday December 17, 2004. (sometime during the evening, prefferably).
What do you think?

I would be interested in popping in if one were scheduled, if I were available… not sure I’ll be available Saturday in the evening… maybe earlier… Sunday is better (let the world revolve around Me… hm, that’s strange… nothing happened…).

Everyone’s world revolves around them. How could it be otherwise?
I am the center of my world, as you are the center of your world.
Just as BMW-Guy is the center of McGimick world.
(I motion for Sunday, if votes mean anything.)
remember time zone difficulties

Feel free to suggest a time, I won’t be around on Sunday but I’m happy to make the post sticky if you can figure out the times for different timezones, GMT, EST, CST etc.
I won’t be here sunday either.
how about 2:00 PM (GMT) (7:00 EST; 6:00 Atlantic time; 8:00 central time; 9:00 Pacific time, etc.) three Saturdays from tommoro (January 8th, 2005)? I know that this is quite bit a away from now, but next Saturday is Christmas, and the saturday after that is New Years Day. My guess is that everyone will be gone (except me) on vacations, etc. due to the holidays.
The 8th is ideal since everyone should be back from vacations by that point, and people will get a chance to see the announcement several days ahead of time.
Just my humble thoughts…if you think that the 8th is too far ahead, it’s not a big deal. We can allways wait to schedule any chats until after the holidays.
…It’s really your call.
ha ha. very funny. hardy-har-har.
Oh, I was thinking ‘tomorrow’ Saturday, not ‘Christmas’ Saturday – can’t do it that Saturday.
After Christmas weekend, before 2 on (any) Saturday is good for me.
This particular weekend, sometime before 2 on Sunday is better, but I may be able to come in on Saturday (tomorrow… well… technically today), I don’t know yet. But I guess you want to give advance notice, so… maybe not.
I’ll check the boards to see what you guys decide on. I am Arizona time zone.
I /wish/ I was going home for Christmas, but hoping for Spring break…
xanderman… I can think of a /lot/ of ways it could be otherwise… haha
as in today? We could, but I do not think it would be very highly attended. You first have to wait for ben to post an annoucement so that other members can become aware that a chat is planned.
I stated in my previous post that we should not do it on a holiday (i.e. Christmas or Ney years), since many people may not be avalible at that time…like yourself and myself.
Hence, I proposed that we have a chat on the first saturday after New Year’s day (January 8th, 2005). It might be planned at oh say, 2:00 PM GMT.
BMW-Guy seems to believe the rotation of the earth is opposite from what it actually is. Recall the sun rises in the east. EST, at GMT+5, will be 9:00 AM at 2:00 PM (14:00) GMT. And PST will be 0-dark-hundred - six o’clock in the AM.
Don’t worry about it, Larry Niven made the same exact mistake in the first edition of Ringworld, and published it for millions of people to harangue.
Edit: the proper notation for EST (US/Canada Eastern Standard Time) is actually Greenwich Mean Time minus five. I wrote here GMT+5, which might simply have exacerbated the confusion. I do have a firm grip on the times themselves, however, and know that it is 5:35 PM in dear old Brighton&Hove though just past noon here.
meh.
At least give me some credit: I did go to the work to try to figure out the time differences, etc.
At anyrate:
I motion for an ILP chat on Saturday, January 8th, 2005 at 2:00 PM (GMT).
Ben?
