I think ILP should have a desktop widget or browser plugin to keep track the update posts. I was tired of clicking “View unread posts” these days. So… just a suggestion.
speaking of changes to the ILP site organization, any feedback on the now ever-present “view active topics” button? yes, that idea was suggested by yours truly please withold the praise, oh gosh stop clapping you guys, i’m so embarrassed. i want to thank jesus for not existing, and my mom for not being there, and i want to thank all of you at PBS for your various shows and stuff.
I think the view active topics button is great.
I think the OP displays laziness…especially since he’s brand new and only has 15 posts.
well just look at his avatar, he’s a BABY, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. i’m surprised he can even type out coherent sentences. lil baby’s fucking SMART.
Yes, I’m lazy. That’s why I want to be notified without clicking that button.
Try to understand, rakra. Most of us work in coal mines, or run major corporations, or are single parents of eight or ten kids. We’re an industrious bunch. No one here posts while at work (that would be lazy). And we have many members who actually post from their phones while training as world-class athletes.
We have little time for lazy types.
How is it lazy to post while at work, hm? If I’m between things to do, or if I’m spending a bunch of time sitting in front of my computer, I definitely post from work. It’s boring here otherwise. When I’m working on spreadsheets, it helps to be multi-tasking. For some reason I seem to get more done that way. If not ILP, it’s be something else.
I don’t think being more productive when one is multi-tasking is laziness, Faust.
Gasp! You post at work?
I had no idea!
You’re such a shit, Faust.
To the OP: a widget is a lot to ask for. I’m not a programmer or web designer, so I don’t know where I’d start to build such a thing. What’s more, with a “technical” team of 1, we’re not really equipped to build one widget, let alone the many that would be needed for the many different operating systems.
You do have a few options, though: you can subscribe topics, and then you’ll get an email every time a new post is made. Assuming you have email as a widget, that would solve your problem. You should also be able to follow topics as RSS feeds, so if you have a RSS reader widget, you could get notifications that way.
oh! RSS, i didn’t think of that. Thank you Carleas.
