So, I have this friend. Co-worker, actually.

He says he used to be straight, and now he’s bi. But he’s leaning towards being gay. And he wants a sex change operation. If he gets that and still wants men, is s/he then straight or still gay?

The thing is, he wants to be just gay and at the same time he wants the sex change operation.

I’m confused. Does he want to be a straight woman? How would he know that before the operation? And if, after the operation, he decides he likes women, is he a lesbian then?

Labels are hard.

Wonderer - funny you should say that. Because he crossdresses. So far at work, just subtle things - jackets and sweaters. At first we thought he had bad taste in men’s clothing. Now that we know where he’s coming from, we realise he has bad taste in women’s clothing.

Yeah, why do tran-sexuals/cross-dressers have bad taste in women’s clothes and make-up? I haven’t seen one who I thought dressed well yet - they either look like something out of the 70s, or go to the other extreme and end up looking like hookers!

Labels are hard, especially amongst people who quote ‘reject labels’ unquote. Trannies are in their own nebulous category. Don’t think of xem as straight or homo, xe is just tranny. That helps clarify things, if only through a definitional mechanism. They are third-gendered. Whether or not you respect third-gendered individuals is another matter (for my money, I think of them like whores in that I recognize they exist but I don’t much care for it).

Xun - I don’t much care one way or another, I s’pose. I just suspicion that there’s more going on there than just gender identification.

I guess it’s difficult to empathise. But it seems like he already has enough choices, when it comes to sex.

I think he should calm the fuck down, stop having sex of any kind with anyone for a while, and have a good damn think about it before getting anything chopped off, grown out, inverted and/or re-distributed.

If he’s on anything, he should quit that too for a bit. Jesus, what a cluster-fuck of a person.

I think there must be something in the water. This guy wants a sex change now but in 3 weeks he’ll want two penises instead of a vagina.

Now i’m all for letting people do what they want, but maybe we should discourage lunch hour sex changes…

I mean, changing gender on a whim is perhaps something so extreme that we should restrict access to it.

Somehow our society has evolved to a point where releasing sexual frustrations with another man has become a mechanism more efficient than the traditional mechanism of a man and a woman and the gay factor is gaining ground in our society, seemingly overtaking the once was norm.

Maybe it was our holding women to ridiculous standards, which thinned out the prey… Maybe it was also holding ourselves to ridiculous standards, which thinned out the amount of would be alpha’s…

Or it could be electro-magnetism, something in the water, the home improvement channel, or some other obscure social mechanism/phenomena…

I was only trying to provoke a discussion anyway… My guess is that it will lead to a decrease in reproduction which will cause the population to shrink, theoretically any sort of gay gene or factor would work itself out of society simply because straight families would be getting all the new recruits.

It would be like the shakers. A group (similar to Quakers i believe) who thrived in Europe by promoting abstinence, which worked in those economic circumstances because there were many peasants and not enough goods to support new generations. But when they made the move to the Americas they died out simply because they weren’t getting any new recruits.

Barring some sort of counter mechanism, we should see a peek and then a decrease…

Yeah, I don’t really care what he’s up to. I just can’t believe he’s gay. Not to stereotype, but it seems that if he were gay, he’d have much better taste in clothing. I’ve seen some pics, and he just doesn’t have the legs for a miniskirt.

(The fishnets helped a little, but I have a thing for fishnets.)

fishnets are never a good sign, unless it’s a girl wearing them, and she’s hot, in any other circumstance, throw that shit in the ocean.

In my experience a guy wearing fishnet is a sign of a broken ego looking for a kick start.

If i’m thinking right, this guy isn’t too too bright. he’s innocent but just seems to miss a beat here and there. To add to that he probably as 2 or 3 heavy interests, like some genre of music, a video game perhaps, a particular string of bars, various drugs, cross dressing would be one i wager.

now this is assuming he wears fishnets while not cross dressing, because otherwise it would be a different story. But simply pick one of his interests, a benign one, and relate it to something which might deter him from getting a sex change operation.
