so i was just thinking today, immortality is living forever period. long after the world has imploded or whatever you believe will happen you will remain alive and well. a few of my friends said ‘oh man id give my arms for that’ sacarstically or not i thought “well would I give MY arms?” i said no way. after all if you believe that life is just to die and theres no real mystery behind living [if there was wed as humans who are incredabily smart would have surley discovered it by now] then why would you give your arms up to live. we need our hands justl ike we need our feet. anyways what do you guys think would you trade your arms to live forever? why? why not? you folks agree or whats the deal?
I wouldn’t take immortality if offer on a golden
plate with a pretty please with it.
I don’t think I have ever heard of a worse
idea then living forever. Which is in part why
I will not believe in god. Your reward? is living forever.
Yeeech. I rather have just one shot at this thing even
if you get screwed from the get go.
Kropotkin
I wouldn’t mind, but I’d want to read the fine print first.
being the immortal one…
you would be very wise and get to see humankind as it progresses and develops new technology, all of the future events that a mortal will never see.
but you would have to watch as all the ones that you love die, never to be seen again.
you would become like a hermit, living away from society gathering your wisdom and your hatred for mankind.
your wisdom would be called upon and perhaps you could change the world for the better, for how you see fit.
but eventually you will witness the darkest times of man, and you will beg for death long before this planet has died out.
then, when eventually there is nothing left but you and your ancient wisdom, you will be useless and will be forced to live a miserable, lonely, endless exisitence
an interesting question grows from this - how human would you be if you were immortal?
One of the most powerful shared experiences we have is our mortality. Certainly we experience it, think about it, and talk about it differently but death is the one certainty we all face (in the short term at least.)
I think that mortality is basic to our existence as humans and that to lose it is to lose a critical part of our humanity.

Hello,
You wish to be immortal
Your mind will collapse!
I’d like to live to 200. Maybe 250. Immortality is a bit extreme.
