Interesting?

this is sort of a mental experiment so please concentrate and try not to be distracted.

imagine you are holding a big gold coin with heads on one side and tails on the other.

you flick the coin with you thumb high up into the sky (no your not in a dungeon)…

the coin is spinning quickly and reaches its highest point where it begins to fall…

the fate of the world rests on you calling the right outcome; Heads or Tails?

if you guess wrong the world will be destroyed.

the coin is descending rapidly heads or tails?

the coin is still spinning from heads to tails… concentrate on it

it slows down and stops…

what is it? and what did you pick?

I always say, “heads I win, tails you lose”.

Tails… and tails!

I’m not done with this place yet, so the world lives another day.

me 2 but the reaper is no fool

Why did it slow down, and why did it stop? And, I picked one or the other. What did you pick? Isn’t it funny that people with serious problems always want to work on problems they don’t have in preference to ones they do have. What do you think?

can this rule be applied to your post?

I don’t have a rule, but I have made the observation that people prefer the hypothetical to the real, and as far as myself, it is all an intelligence test. If I can see some real implication to even the strangest problem, I’ll take a shot at it. In point of fact, nothing is hanging on the coin toss, or for that matter, on our desires regarding which way it will fall. So, there is no reality to it.

Melvin death. then run away

so why even repy to my post? why waste your time and mine?

oxy-moronic statements like saying “there’s no point in replying to this post” as a reply are quite frankly annoying.

I picked heads and landed a tails.

How very dissatisfying.

It is because, while people tend to think in terms of black and white, yes or no, true or false, reality does not present us with such choices; but rather, with a choice of more, or less. Where is the road on which you can turn left or right at will? Nothing rests on fortune, nothing rests on the flip of a coin unless people are mismanaging their lives. So you may learn about people when you ask hypothetical questions; but where is the benefit to them? Do they learn about reality by dealing with unreality? Perhaps to the extent that people are our reality, yes. But even in that sense it is hard to come up with a yes or no to even the most imaginary problems. Fortunately, some people understand that real problems are not mindjerk. They may be difficult, deadly or hazzardous, but they play out over time, so again, there is not right or wrong answer. You keep living, and you correct that which does not work. Life is adaptation, learning, and is not calling a toss.

life is not calling a coin toss but perhaps i may learn of benifit from your answer?

you said (i think) where is the benifit to you? well none at the moment… perhaps if i reach a conclusion in the area i tried to probe then i will share that with you, potentially to your benifit.

once again you are being over critical and derailing my thread… u just wanted people to answer me honestly not tell me why i should stop…

you say i am thinking in terms of black and white… care to guess what i am and was thinking ? do you still think it is black and white?

No; I do not think in terms of black and white, but in a vast range of colors. Once more, life is not choosing between opposites. Do you guess the political parties are opposites. Do you guess if you ever have to choose between two women that you are choosing between opposites? We have to develop a sense for subtle nuance. Literally, ones life depends upon the choices one makes in youth. Does it help them make wise decission if you convince them they are living in a world of polar opposites? One must thread ones life through a miriad of choices in a single day, not one of which is hypothetical, and for that matter few are of consequence. When some one is presented with a real serious problem, it is who they are that will determine how they choose. We may be formed of conclusion we make, but few of them are based upon the imaginary, or hypothetical. In a sense, if you want people to make good choices you have to make them good, which is to say: aware, intelligent, moral, and sympathetic. Anything else is a waste of time, because reality is not hypothetical.

Just to be a stickler it’s not oxymoronic it’s hypocritical.

Anyway to hell with the world. Tails and heads.

Now if you ask me for something I have to ethically justify, tails and tails. I was just acting on my personal whims previously.

Thanks for playing along with unreality and not derailing the thread.

this post is an easy way to extract some honewst information from various subjects.

this is not necessarily end of world stuff but i feel it is prudent to explore any option you can, while you can.

this month my psychological interest seems to be geared towards understanding the condition of the human subconcious.

if you guess wrong it says something about your innate or intuitive prefrences because it is your subconcious (i think) which generates the final outcome.

becaue your subconcious knows what you have chosen, i believe that it will, without any self delusions, give you the answer you want to see.
