I spend everyday, all day asking Alldata questions about different cars that come into the shop. If I didn’t admit or want anyone to know I didn’t know all about every kind of car, what kind of mechanic would I be? Without Alldata to guide me I would be in trouble.
Asking lots of questions is the best way to learn.
agreed
Anyone disagree?
i dont’ think that acknowledging that you don’t know, is a step towards knowing. Rather it is the effect of knowing.
“the more i know, the less i know”
i believe the first step in knowing is accepting that you will never know everything.
by admiting that you do not know, you invite room for eventually filling that space when information comes your way in the future.
If you pretend that you know things that you do not, your ego prevents you from growing, learning and eventually knowing certain things.
The opposite of a correct statement is a false statement. But the opposite of a profound truth may well be another profound truth. Niels Bohr Physicist 1885 - 1962
I like this quote, kind of random, but it is about truth and knowing.
Asking questions is the first step to knowing.
Acknowledging that you don’t know something just means you are too lazy to learn it. (Otherwise I would be a lot smarter.)
If you are lost in strange city, do you acknowledge it, and ask for directions? Or remain arrogant, and rely on luck, taking a chance ending up in the projects of NYC?
Who’s car would you rather be a passenger in?
I like that analogy, well put. It’s the old advice, “ask, and it will be open” though sometimes few have the key, and usually there are a few different universal keys that open the same door.
I just noticed that all my buddies who are really good mechanics, always have to research, and ask questions about the concern, and the description and operation of how the circuit works to find and fix problems.
I was just wondering why this attitude is discouraged for politicians and law enforcement. My boss used to yell at me at my last job for admitting my errors to customers. He said people would lose faith in you.
So then, is it not possible to know something? 2+2=4?
true…my one year old doesn’t know that yet.
good point.
Hi,
When I was 16, I knew everything. Now I am 54 and I know very little --and it is getting worse… so, life and “knowing” isn’t what you think it is. You, my friend, are more evolved than you think you are!
Sara
not knowing is being all
asking is the pleasure to hear
not being is the truth of being in richness of sources
if you were true in saying you don’t feel knowing you wouldn’t show how you like to judge the evolution of others that is what you are only the proof is you are a liar than you are nothing but what God gave you to not be
I deeply believe that to be is not to be and not to be is
Great, I’m glad you agree that we can know some thing. For example 2+2=4.
Further, regarding the realm of the abstract… when we make a statement such as… “I used to think that I knew but now I know that I was wrong and that I do not know it”
Are we not in fact… making the underlying statement that we have developed knowledge? Even if we have not developed or worked out the complete answer, the complete “truth”… we have worked out some things…we have been able to confirm that some things are “false”.
So we could say that we start with little, mostly illusions and misconceptions. We may hold things to be self evident but upon circumspection we may find truths about these misconceptions and get closer to the truth even if perhaps never reaching ultimate understanding.
In short, knowing what is false and why it is so…requires knowledge and understanding of the particularities of an issue. A person who can explain why something isn’t so is not on the same level of the knowledge as one who just simply knows nothing.
People often confuse not knowing everything (being aware that you can’t know everything) and not knowing anything (not being able to ever establish knowledge and understanding).
Why are you thinking that i would have a complex of not knowing ? Man or woman it is for you that you are here not me capish? and you have it all me in justifying all from the start saying how dum people are to spent so much time on saying nothing and never want to listen to what is and still you do worst in showing how you’ve been told that i am and still don’t want to see anything else than a poor soul for your own lost open your eyes i am here alone and still alive how do you think i manage that why do i say that because you are too dum at an extend that you won’t see of these words to say but an imaginary weak that you want to believe that you enforce you are doing nothing here for me capish again? Do what you think for yourselves and that would be a smart step if you really want to know something valuable before you get a life
and no sir 2+2 is not so four either what is are means to you as God only being is in all nothing else
Is admitting you don’t know the first step to learning?
Well, it certainly is if you’re wrong.
and please do me a favor try to not be as you don’t like in me isn’t that what God is telling you to be? How long are you planned to start ?stop trying to convice yourselves in pushing me to yell the answers you want start at least by asking openly start by showing your truth of not being in truth of God being love
yes.
but more importantly, it is the begining of the maturity of the ego.( or the evolution of the ego).
