Is education a necessary evil?

The maintenance of a society requires two kinds of rules, speakable rules and unspoken rules, the youngsters of any society put a genuine threat to the status quo, because they are not socialized enough to see the unspoken rules. In the classic story of Hans Christian Andersen, The Emperor’s New Clothes, a child said the emperor “is not wearing anything”, this kind of situation can happen in real life, if that emperor has a little bit of more intelligence , he should arrange his parade not on Saturday and Sunday, but on Monday, simply because on Monday the mind of that poor kid is occupied with grammar in a school, therefore, in this sense education functions as a control mechanism of younger generation in a society, most of us will not become physicists, but we still study physics in a school.

After all, Is education a necessary evil?

No, its good, nor is it necessary.

Without education you would not be reading this. You’d not be sitting on your spotty behinds. You’d still be running round the forest trying to catch food with your bare hands. Your life expectancy would be about 30 years max, and average about 20. So most of you would be dead.

Of course the natural world would be teaming with life and the ecosystems would be reaching their climax vegetation, with the entire food chain in flux achieving a violent equilibrium.
It would be tough going for a naked ape - and there would be few of us around to enjoy the horrors of nature.

But is education necessarily evil? Nah.

Yup. It’s necessary if you want to live, thrive. But all of that is not really necessary. Necessity depends on… desire. Ultimately, nothing is necessary. Living is not necessary, its desired. Everything is a desire. Saying anything is needed, implies that you need to live. Which, ultimately, is false, we all need to die in fact, because we don’t live forever.

Why don’t you just put a bullet in your head?
What’s stopping you?

He wasn’t talking about suicide.

Desire, motivation, love.
