is faith enough?

all religion comes with some sort of uncertainty. therefore, believers compensate with faith. if this is true for all religions, why choose a belief at all? i know relgion brings out the best in everyone, to live a fuller life. but when there are unanswered questions, is it still wise to put faith in something that is potentially false?

“A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.”
F. Nizzle

If Faith was all that was required then that is all the God would ask of us.

God knows that faith is not enough, but it is a good start. I have faith in the Lord and yet even though I have started in faith alone I have been reinforced in my faith in my journey!

The first step on the path is Faith but God will walk with you Every Step of the Way!

Proof of God is there! This proof is only yours and one that you will never be able to share with anyone else that has not obtained this proof!

is it wise to put faith in a religion that is potentially wrong?

of course God or any other god has some sort of religious basis to put faith on. This basis is where faith is brought from. As a result, we live our lives accordingly to this faith, which gives us a better sense of well being.

of course everyone believes what they want to believe, because their faith outweighs physical evidence. if this is true for ALL relgions, how do you know what you believe is true??

isnt faith an unconditional belief even though there are errors/uncertanties?

Faith ain’t blind believing. Faith’s trust in one’s life, IMO. What do you say?

.

If you dont then you cant have the question answered . You can call it faith or you can also say accepting guidance . If you accept guidance , you follow the instructions of someone else , in the hope that you get something you were looking for .

But if you dont follow , then you cant see whether what they say is false or not , because you have to practice first what someone else says to see if it does in fact lead to the place they say it will . Good teachers wont lead you astray

Life is uncertainty.

When you get in your car, you have faith that no one else will cause you harm this time. That’s not always true though is it?

When you finish your work you have faith that you completed it correctly. Several months later, a mistake is found and you have to own up to it correctly?

Where does faith serve you in every day life?

What’s the opposite of belief in something?

Belief in nothing. I choose not to glorify nothing, and I hold something sacred. I may not fully understand what that something is, but I know damn well it’s better than nothing!

Generalizing I see… I would say that religion generally brings the best out of most people in comparison to non-religion, or the new age set. generally they believe in nothing, and set out to rip tradition apart. For what end purpose though? so that nothing is sacred? So that nothing is worthy of living for?

Sometimes you just have to be uncomfortable with not knowing.

Faith isn’t just belief. It carries far more depth than that. Faith is a virtue of our spirit, it already exists within our heart. It is symbiotic. It is not just that we have faith in God, it is God having faith in us. Nothing really to do with religion. Everything to do with our heart.

I have to agree with scy.

“Faith” is allot like hope. Just be careful where you place it, and live your life as best you can.

Faith is a quality that is expressed in spite of uncertainty, not because of it. An incontovertible fact: we’re here. We may not know why, whether there is meaning, and all the other uncertainty questions, and it is beside the point.

We can know this much with a fair degree of certainty. There is stuff going on and we’re in the middle of it. Dan~ has it right. We do the best we can - in spite of uncertainty.
