Can we give up this freedom to disagree and disobey, and be able to trust the authorities will not abuse it and enslave us?
Can we stop the cops from investigating us, “protecting” our privacy? Are they “investigating” or “spying”?
Do we give up our right to supoena evidence and witnesses in our behaf, because it violates their freedom and privacy? If we do, how can we defend ourselves from false accusations.
Do we allow everyone to “spy” on one another doing away with privacy? Or do we outlaw questions and freedom of speech to protect privacy? Privacy …yes or no…good or bad…right or wrong…
‘The System’ sucks, but it is better than the alternative of having no cops or government. If you hear stories about government agents sniffing around in people privacy and you don’t know why they are doing it, just keep in mind that the agents themselves probably don’t want to be there sniffing around and would rather be at home with their feet up. Government snooping might be intrusive but it’s not fun.
But no, you never give up your right to disagree and disobey, and anyone who trusts the authorities is just asking for trouble.
Still, everyone is already allowed to spy on anyone else, at least you can if you do it from your own property.
Government spying is not actually the problem, the problem is the government secrecy. If everything the government did was 100% transparent (like it is in an actual democracy unlike a dictatorship that calls itself a democracy) then privacy would not be so important as everyone could see what was being done with their information and it wouldn’t feel like a violation.
So if nobody was doing “wrong” there would be no need to hide anything, or waste time hunting for dirt and evidence of others “wrongs” or “sins”. What the hell would we do then? Would it be boring? Or is it a goal we really never want to achieve?
