whats with the low member turnout lately, and the low posting numbers? is this just because its summer, or are we seeing a longer-term trend of less membership and activity on ILP? how does activity now compare to the last couple of years, during summer as well as during school season?
I think it’s not ILP but you if something is dying.
I mean, you used to post A LOT, but not any more.
It’s probably because you keep avoiding to answer even in the thread you created, and mostly dodge when you do. So, it’s less interesting to say something to you, and I guess that’s exactly what you wanted.
It’s as if you are going back more into your “breakdown”, which isn’t bad because it may mean things you have been suppressing are surfacing a little.
So, I guess you are seeing/feeling the shadow of your own increased selective filtering, most part, combined with a bit of summer effect.
you dont think i post a lot? check my average posts per day. theyre not going down.
hm? what thread is this? feel free to link it.
if i ignored you it was either because i didnt see your post, or it was total crap and a waste of my time. but ill give it a look here since you seem to want a comment from me so badly.
you mean, its less interesting for me to say something to you?
this OP was about ILP in general and how i can log in after 2 days and only see a handful of new posts, in any of the forums-- some forums dont even have any at all. its not about the content of my own threads.
youre in a nice mood today, huh? :-"
actually, i was commenting on the lack of new content in ILP in general. if you read my OP, and not just the title, maybe youd see that.
but then again, i have no expectation at all that you would actually read what i write, much less try to determine what im trying to say… hm, maybe that has something to do with why i dont always reply to you?
I used to see about ten fresh posts of yours in the morning.
Now, it’s like 3 to 5, I think.
The average figure wouldn’t go down quickly because you posted so much in the past.
If we can access SQL data base, we can query your posts count per day and plot, though…
Well, it’s more in general. I mean, you aren’t replying to many people.
Look at your breakdown thread, for example.
Maybe the OP the breakdown thread is a total crap that you don’t look at the thread often.
Don’t you see that you was a main poster and now you post less, reply less.
So people can be less interested in saying something to as you don’t bother to reply even in your own (crappy) thread.
Yeah, maybe because you didn’t produce as much crappy posts in these forum for last couple of days.
As usual.
I know. And I was telling you that you are one of the main poster (quantity wise) and when you don’t post as much, it affect total activity of ILP.
Maybe your selective filter doesn’t allow you to see this.
Your pigeon-holes are visible to others, probably more than you think.
Do you see your own overrating tendency?
Just look at the title of this thread.
ILP is really dead. It’s been dead since Ben left. The smart people went to other forums or found a life and the remaining still fight over Nietzchean quotes. I could bring this place back to life though I have no time.
oh, i didnt realise you were so interested in my posting frequency.
its good to know someone out there cares.
i reply when its worth it to me, when i get something out of it.
if i dont reply, you can assume that i didnt see the post itself, or i just dont care. take your pick, whatever makes you feel better.
the people i dont reply to are the people i dont want writing in my threads anyways, so it works out fine.
no one is forcing you to read them. if you think they are crappy, feel free to not read them.
you wont see me complaining.
maybe it does. i wouldnt know.
what about it? i fail to see how it implies pigeopns or a tendency to overrate. but maybe you are not capable of inferring what it means to refer to something like a website as “dying”.
oh im sorry, i didnt realise the social forums like mundane babble or hall of questions were the place for literary masterpieces and deeply insightful philosophical essays. i thought they were more about, well, mundane babbling and asking questions.
my bad. how could i get that one so wrong?
or, just maybe, ILP is “dying” because so many people like you here just constantly spout useless and uninteresting one-line crap without ever adding anything substantial or meaningful to conversations at all… just a thought.
It’s a summer thing. I would venture to say that around half of us (including myself) are service-industry people, at least from what I’ve gathered, and that’s when things pick up.
I can’t speak for anyone else here, but I am pretty close to worthless from a writing standpoint in the Summer. I’m working on a novel right now and I had started it back in February. By April, I had three chapters done and full outlines for ten other chapters. As of right now, I have three chapters done and full outlines for ten other chapters.
Sure, I just have to type it. What I need is to be around a computer at some point while I’m not at work so that I can put my full attention on typing. I have no attention problem with posting because I am typing as I think, but moving something from paper and typing it bores me very quickly.
I was simply explaining why the average post count you were talking doesn’t go down easily and it would be easy to see the decrease of your posts with SQL query.
But you used it to indulge in your narcissistic delusion …
You can know if you check your post count.
Yeah yeah. You call it “dying” when you think the post count goes down a bit (and it can be partially because of your own posts decreasing ).
You exaggerate, overrate. And you have so much problem seeing it.
