Is it harder to win freedom, or to sustain it?

It’s a symptom of our corruption, that the wealthy representatives of some of our largest states like California, New York and especially Massachusetts, keep getting re-elected by demagoguing class/wealth envy.

It may not be possible for humans to sustain freedom for any significant period of time:

When we contemplate the fall of empires and the extinction of nations of the Ancient World, we see but little to excite our regrets than the mouldering ruins of pompous palaces, magnificent museums, lofty pyramids and walls and towers of the most costly workmanship; but when the empire of America shall fall, the subject for contemplative sorrow will be infinitely greater than crumbling brass and marble can inspire. It will not then be said, ‘Here stood a temple of vast antiquity; here rose a babel of invisible height; or there a palace of sumptuous extravagance; but here, ah, painful thought! the noblest of work of human wisdom, the grandest scene of human glory, the fair cause of Freedom rose and fell.’
–Thomas Paine, a letter from London, January 5, 1789

(This country) can only end in Despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic Government, being incapable of any other.
–Speech written by and delivered for Benjamin Franklin on the last day of the Constitutional Convention, Sept. 17, 1787

Is it possible for a thing to understand what constitutes the right action of a thing if it does not know what the thing is and is suppose to do?

Let us suppose that you are a skilled tradesman. Your boss came up to you and said fix it, it does not work. You asked what it was that it was suppose to do and your boss said “I don’t know.” or “I neither know nor care.” or again “It does not matter, as long as this light here comes on, it will work fine in its next reincarnation.”

On and on–but never once could he tell you what that machine was suppose to do. The only way to fix it is, learn the machine, what it is suppose to do and how it does it for its given product.

What is A Man?

What is the difference between a definition and a description? Why are there classes of words that can never be defined? And is this fact mandatory, or not?

Where’s freedom?

Jeez… ](*,)

Like Franklin said, “corrupt”.

The meaning attached with the word ‘Freedom’ is generally only a misconception. The thing is that humans are always entrapped in one way or another which makes them liable to do one thing or another. Can you really live a carefree life? Without any worries? Without having to do something.

Before considering whether it is harder to win freedom or to sustain it, it’s better to have a clear definition of what freedom really is. I know everybody has their own points of view, but here’s a pretty fine point of view where I’ve discussed this topic a little as well. forum.roadsout.com/viewtopic.php … &sk=t&sd=a
