I was not referring to natural aversions within a family group
but how the economics of the Bronze Age bride-price social custom
originated the formalities
which then were carried forward
into the Iron, Steel and Nuclear Ages
as legally defined crimes
reinforced by the genetic argument
Since incest exists
it is obvious that the inhibitions
are not always present
and herein lies the need
for open inspection
very interesting points made here.
Especially about mother/son sexual inhibitions.
But not seemingly with the bulk of the family group
What about Father/daughter
and siblings
no inhibitions there?
If not, then incest
among a natural primate group
is mostly natural.
People do things in spite of their inhibitions on a regular basis. Doing so does not necessarily indicate a ‘lack of inhibition.’ I would further suggest that when it comes to sexual matters, the felt inhibition might itself become a source of arousal. Everyone likes to feel naughty sometimes.
So far as I’m aware the only taboo is mother/son, but I’m far from an expert, only read a few articles. Also, I’m not certain of the rigor of definition of taboo the researchers in those articles employed. Perhaps siblings are only allowed to engage in ‘petting’ but no intercourse, where mother/son cannot touch at all. Father/daughter would be impossible to monitor outside of paternity testing (think about it!), so insofar as a naturally arising taboo is concerned it is a non-issue.
What is worse??? Screwing your family or screwing the whole world for your family??? As you may see, I am not for hereditary wealth…It is a big excuse to tear society to pieces…
One can understand your concern
but it is not based on fact
where incest has been legal
for generations
in France and Japan for instance
it has not created mass destruction
