Sufi’s probably believe in love more than Christians. Why can’t Love of God take precident over Service to God in daily actions? Some, such as in the Bhakti tradition may say no difference, others who study the concepts would say it’s like leadership versus management… no difference, actually the same concept. One quickly realizes this isn’t true once one steps foot in a Department of Motor Vehicles… one can receive service without love, management without a sense of leadership.
How can one “Love God” in a state of perpetual hate and angst against others? Can one really serve and love God at the exact same time as hating another (the act of service), or is the act contrary to the Love of God, as one must essentially give up Loving God for the duration of the action.
This presumes one can’t truly hate, and truly love at the same time simultaneously. In order to hate, one must give up Loving God, even if it supposedly for his benefit.
I’m a little stumped as to why every angry Jihadi feels the need to make God the beneficiary of their welfare distribution of angry acts. The modern notion and feeling of (romantic) love is indeed a “western” creation. So I guess non-westerners are somewhat justified in wanting to reject it, considering how they’re more interested in merely opposing something then they are in actually understanding life, their own psyche and feelings and desires, the world, science, or the philosophical and anthropological/cultural-historical basis for religious belief. To put it simply they would rather die than see a higher truth, which is a bit funny given how low to the ground they already are.
Though there are chicken and egg issues here. If not having one’s hair covered was not culturally the equivalent of coming on to man, would the men act the way they do? In the West men can act just like that when clothing or lack of culturally mean to them that a women wants sex now. One you set up the rules, they become a language and create expectations, apart from any taboo thrill of seeing something that is supposed to be covered.

The trouble is that when they emigrate to western, non muslim societies a good many of them think the women are up for grabs.
Give it 1-2 generations and immigrating Muslims to Europe and the US will be totally integrated into secular culture, with few exceptions. Jews, Indians, Natives, Arabs, Africans, these groups that have been in the west multi-generationally tend to integrate as their children grow up here and experience western civilization as their norm. Plus we have recent technological advances that speed up this process of cultural assimilation.
