Are men in the world refusing to be men? Are they no longer want ing to buy dinner or dronks. Take care of women and children. DO they just want a woman who is totally equal and will do everything herself?
I am not sure if you mean some sort of formal men’s-rights movement, or just a simple movement away from the traditional role of men but yes… I think men are refusing to do the traditional manly things in some cases. With the feminist train in full swing the role of a woman is quickly becoming equal to that of a man, which means changes for both genders towards a more equal median. Not only are women taking up the task of traditionally male things, but I think you are finding, more and more, men taking up traditionally female things. In conclusion, I like it when women pick up the cheque.
Care to elaborate on the ‘good reason’? Seems men have historically enjoyed a choice social role, not much to complain about other than the transcendance of the status quo, no?
I saw the title and thought of all the men I know. Many are traditional male role models, Others go half and half, still there are the few that have no problems what so ever falling into female traditional roles and still keep their virile masculinity.
Some men are afraid to lose the virile masculine nature if they step into female roles/jobs. Which is utterly stupid. Like doing dishes makes a female feminine. It must be the soap combined with water that creates a feminine hormone level.
My father is the most masculine male I know and that guy can clean a house better than most women as can his 4 sons. I sure would not call them feminine. LOL I can’t run that fast anymore.
Roles/jobs do not make a person feminine or masculine. Alot of feminists seem to believe it does as do a lot of masculinists. Give me a break, one has to wonder what their biology teachers and sex ed teachers taught them.
They take form in things like the Man Show, radio shows like Howard Stern, Maxim magazine, and AskMen.com. They’re groups that represent masculinity and maleness and defend it. Basically, they say this is us, this is what we think, this is what we like, there are tons of us out there, and we can defend our rights to be the men we want to be.
OOOOORAH! Still men out there with chivalry. But its only dieing because women are killing it. Men only become feminine when women become masculin, On a large scale. (in my opinion)
Not when it comes to kids. There’s this great example that unfortunately I cannot find a link to. It was in the (Canadian) Western Standard. It was about how a woman took the condom from her boyfriend after sex, and then went into a public bathroom and inseminated herself. Then she had the baby without his knowing, and then years later demanded child support from the father. The Canadian courts granted it, and yet the man wasn’t allowed to go see his offspring.
Mens are consider male shovinistic pigs becuase of women. I have come to find in my life that the one usually pointing the finger is usually far more guilty. Thus the reason they want the focus off them. Women are more kinky, horny, and dirtier than guys. They just cover it up better, men just dont care.
Oh men care, they really want the women to be more kinky, horny and dirtier than them. This way the woman does all the physical work, the guy gets his rocks off and gets to sleep earlier. Prefered elapsed time less than 3 minutes from start to snooze.
Truly its sad, my steph dad has been in a horrific court battle for 8 years over his only duaghter, after adopting 2 of hers, she wont let him see his only child. And he pays out the ass. Child support, violin lessons, not to mention shes has autism, he loves her so dearly, and the courts just rape him everytime. There umbelievable. They dont even question the mother, its like what she says goes. Then agian massachusetts has terrible mens rights. And very strict judicial system.
Seems to you, perhaps, but not to me. The greatest oppressions are on the poor, by the rich. A queen is worth a hell of a lot more than your average male working class clump of organs in this machine we call capitalist democracy.
I dunno what in the name of Rembrandt Q Einstein a dronk is, and I’m sure as hell not going to pay for it.
Very good.
How’s the new feminism going? I mean, the new job?
I haven’t seen it. Chicks like to pick and choose their equality; they want equal pay and all that but they still expect you to pick up the tab and open the door for them and so on and so forth. I might be a bit biased since I go to school down in Tennessee at Vandy and those girls are notoriously stuck-up, but so far I don’t think chivalry is dead, no matter how much hard-core feminists wish it was.
Back in the 70s and 80s women were asking men out. The rule was who ever asked ,was the host/hostess for the date. That means the host/hostess pays unless both agreed to Dutch. Now I know it was done that way back then but, I admit I have been out of circulation for a couple of decades. I know my baby sister follows that rule, as does my kid brother. Does not this still work? Who ever sets up the date should pay. Even if you are exclusive. If you want to go out you pay.
There are culturally defined symbolisms for both feminine and masculine archetypes.
That pink is associated with the feminine is, for instance, a culturally determined symbol.
Yet, one can only wonder if there is a connection between the cerebral effects of color, let us say, and certain dispositions.
Like, why is red associated with anger?
Does it have something to do with our biological characteristics?
Anyways, the fact that males and females exists at all, tells us that there are distinct biological functions for each. Functions which each type has evolved, both physically and mentally to successfully carry out.
In turn these procreative determinations are taken by cultures and given a place and a role established by these primordial drives and determinations.
Can man overcome his/her nature – in other words his historical context and genetic heritage (the past) – and when overcoming nature, as man often attempts to do, what will the consequences be?
Current western cultural necessities create an atmosphere of idealization for anything that equates or erases distinction, and so it focuses n the positives exalting them as enlightenment or “progressâ€.
The same could be said for the industrial revolution.
But what were the repercussions and what price are we now paying for that revolution and what price will be paid for this modern desire to eliminate all heritage and all naturally determined processes?
Sex wasn’t invented by man nor has it evolved to be a life-style or a choice or an entertainment device.
It has a clear-cut reason for being.
That this mechanism is then taken and warped or altered through human intervention does not eliminate its primary function and reason for being.
The problems that feminism resolves, exposes, and (causes?) have burned in my head for years. I have a love-hate relationship with feminism.
Should men castrate, prevent, or kill themselves to at least reduce their population? Such as in the SCUM manifesto?
Should men sit down and shut up so that women can take the stand?
Should men become vigilantes devoted to protecting and (generally) obeying women?
I don’t consider feminism as a threat to men- but it leaves men with harsh, immediate, difficult (many disagree there) questions that are not there to maul around.
I choose a combination of two and three. We (men) should encourage more women in political power- beyond “equality” (whatever that means, not like we have any historical example), but perhaps allow some female-dominated government and see how it shines. Likewise, we should feel honoured that we are willing to take risks for those we love, and that we do make important decisions wisely, that some fail to make.
However.
When a sixteen year-old girl says “But I love my boyfriend who smacks me. Don’t get involved.” I say: “You’re a foolish girl and, feminism or not, you need some correction in life. I happen to be in the vicinity, so I happen to take some responsability.”
