Is there a such thing a good or evil?

Being that good & evil is defined on “moral”…Your mom says Sally don’t talk back it is bad, but who decides it is bad? Religion, science, morals, society all decide what is good and what is bad, but being that we all disagree on these things how do we know what is actually “bad” or “good”? Is there even bad or good or is bad & good defined by experiences, society, and beliefs, leaving in actuality NO room for bad or good…

Please respond with what you think about bad & good…Thanks!

There sre no such things as good and evil. They are societal conventions, that is. Read all of Nietzsche and report back to us. All of your questions will be answered.

good and evil are moral judgements. That said there are no universal standards outside pain/pleasure. Even now sadists and masochists and serial killers ect. blur the lines between what is condisered universally pleasurable and what is painful; for a “normal” person, the mental anguish of being forced to cause someone pain is almost as bad as physical pain itself. But if i had to venture a guess as to whether good and bad exits i’d say that its certainly so, even a serial killer gets pleasure out of what they do. that doesn’t even touch on the sense of good and bad as being utility.

I don’t think that there are “universal” bads and goods.

At the same time, I can think of some things that are always bad.

It is an age old question isn’t it.

Evil is a quality that we apply to actions that are deemed unacceptable by social standards. If you intend cause someone pain your evil. The more pain you cause the more evil. We don’t have a scale to weigh evil in units so discussing it is heresay. What makes something better(more good) than something else? ME(my reaction to stimuli) humans have motives and if most of a persons motivation leads to pain for others thier evil.

success is universally good, failure is universally bad. pleasure is universally good and pain is universally bad. life is a mixture of both.
