Is There A War On Christianity?

Some Christians in the U.S. believe there is a war on Christianity. They think the Movie Brokeback Mountain is a good example of the “war”. Christians say they are ready to fight back. My question is if people don’t behave in a manner the Christian Churches like, is that grounds for a religious war? Doesn’t this whole attitude go against the “take the log out of your own eye” Christian message? What do you think this will all lead to.

well i hate to sound like imp, but i say bring it on, lets kill them. they will quickly see that god hates them and they will give up as soon as no miracles come to their rescue. and hopefully i can kill a televangelist or five.

pretty much everything christianity does goes against jesus’ message. ‘a camel will pass through the eye of a needle before a rich man goes to heaven’ and ‘lets buy stained glass and golden chalices for literally no observable reason’ just dont seem to belong together.

but it wont lead to anything except for christians bitching and hating and maybe slowly gaining political influence until america is destroyed by one of many other forces.

Many Christians think that the behavior of others somehow affects their own morality, and that we should fight every attempt by secularists to sin. I think that’s a pretty stupid position to take. The morality of my neighbor does not affect my morality. Furthermore, as you point out, most Christians do the very same things that they complain about and are therefore hypocritical. I think Christians should say clearly what the bible teaches, stop worrying what everyone else is doing, and start making sure that our actions match our speech.

its not just some kind of collective responsibility to ensure all neighbors are participating in christian rituals, but if our children see fags on a screen, then they will slowly start to think that penises in their anus and acting like a girl is ok. because thats clearly the implication. i mean i was a lisping, limp wristed fag for like two hours after watching titanic.

all we need is a study that proves gayness is a contagious, curable disease, and then we can obviously quarantine them in labor camps until they are repaired. hasnt anybody done this yet?

K: What crap. It is the other way around. the Christians have
been at war with the west and its humanism for 500 years.
The catholic church had already been at war with humanism
for years, when the church forced Galileo to recant his book
“dialogue concerning the two chief world systems;
Ptolemaic and Copernican”. And that was 1633.
And the war continues with its war on the U.S. supreme court
and the Judaical system.

Alternatively, all we need is a study that shows gayness is determined by hereditary and we can ridicule and condemn anyone primitive enough to believe that the bible clearly describes sodomy as a sin.

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.

Coming out with a movie that is about a homosexual couple is not a declaration of war. Believe me, if Christians in the industrialized nations become the target of a holy war we’ll know about it.

What are Christians going to do? Or a small fundamentalist group of Christians to be more specific. Maybe they should try to bomb Hollywood. That’d be interesting.

I believe that MOST christians won’t start a literal war. I mean sure they’ll fight it. Who wouldn’t if something like this happened that went against something you believe so strongly.

Christians should confront Cubists, but by “war” they would be going against the commandment, thou shalt not kill, therfore it’s obvious TimeCube is true,so is dan’s neo cubics and polics,

You and your damn time cubes! What the hell are you smoking?

BAHAHAH!
Well, you can look at the one bright side…
Less overpopulation.

But minorities are bitching their way to the top of the law sometimes…

(Homer voice):
Sodomy, your glasses and your stupid mustache are all a sin, and you know that Flanders!

The bible directly translated says “thou shall not murder” Killing in war isn’t murder

Well you better be sure that god thinks they are not the same; he may think that they are and all of those who say they can kill in war may be seen as even worst sinners because they think they can fool god and themselves by some loophole on the translation of kill and murder.

All killing is a SIN, put it in your sick sinful skulls!

Thanks for the update neighbor. I shall henceforth be clean shaven and semi-blind…

I smoke the Life you gave me,and your not “God”.

First of all i’m not saying I agree with God on this one. Just because I know the bible doesn’t mean that I agree with it.

Are Christian values more or less universal in the US than they were 10, 20, 30 or 40 years ago?
Are there people in the US that are actively working to make Christian values less universal than they are now?

Answer those to questions, and you’ll have your answer to the question of the thread. It’s no more complex than that.

EDIT: Hell, if you have anti-religious blinders on what won’t let you answer these questions, then how about this: Is there a large effort to make Christianity more influential, to build the power of the church, and to turn the US into a Christian-dominated religious country? Yes? Ok, is there anyone fighting back to prevent this? Yes? There’s your war on Christianity- again, if you must see it from an anti-religious perspective only.

I believe that the “war on Christians” is short for the “Jewish controlled media’s” war on Christianity.

Firstly, I’m sure that Jews are indeed in control of the American media. That’s because they were at the forefront of it’s invention and promotion, so there‘s deep roots. They were driven by the aftereffects of WWII to control media to prevent it’s usage as seen in Germany. Also, their elitism creates self-justified nepotism, so many are on the same page about cultural issues.

Christianity is the result of their own belief system’s lies and some are trying to correct that while others have more sinister intent.

Anyway, I bet that the top Christian leaders blame the Jews, and in fact I know that some Jews blame Jews for this stuff.

I think that the Christian influence on politics is much greater then it was 40 years ago. There defiantly an argument that Christianity in the USA has gone through another “great awakening” with the Pentecostals and televangelist pushing more fundamentalist lines and gaining more political influence. As a secularist and atheist with commitment problems I can’t wait for when in a few years time their all scratching their heads wondering why the world hasn’t ended. The whole idea of a war on charismas and Christians is something the right has been doing for awhile, taking the position of the underdog. Those elite liberals are trying to control the media and government looking down upon all those common sense conservatives. It’s a political tactic trying to gain a greater advantage by making people think common sense values of the everyman are under attack by elites.
