Islamic backlash in Libya

To condemn a statement or movie, backed by freedom of speech, for fear of reprisal by Maniacal Muslims or anyone for that matter, is absolutely anti-American. Is it fear or sympathy that was behind this statement by our state?

Desire for office. Did you see Romney’s whole fucked up response?

Do politicians actually think most American’s would agree with this sentiment? They’re gun toting bible thumpers… I mean, really.

I didn’t see Romney’s response, I’ll google now.

The embassy’s words, reiterated in a Twitter message, were “a disgraceful statement on the part of our administration to apologize for American values,” he said.

Do you think Romney meant that Americans share the value of that stupid video that is getting the maniacs panties in a twist?

Even now the political machine: the admen, the speech writers, the consultants, and the political-philosopher advisors, are searching a way to overcome obsticles regarding the political value and public apprehension of honesty and integrity.

imo, everytime the Islamic world reacts to some perceived slight or insult this way, they merely demonstrate themselves to be juvenile, stupid and savage.

Hi Im from the UK and don’t know to which video you’re referring - could you help me out please?

Also would you mind explaining why you think it is “anti-American”?

Thanks

I literally have no idea what this thread is about, and would appreciate some clarification.

Yes me too. I think some protesters came into an embassy somewhere, and american politicians are trying to attribute tweets sent by staffers in the embassy to the Obama administration. That doesn’t make sense. I mean, a statement by someone, clarified by someone, translated by someone, sent by a guy in the embassy someplace means VOTE FOR ROMNEY OBAMA SUCKS!!

Yes. Yes. That’s what this means.

I have to say, I am slightly less in the dark than I was before. I am surprised there aren’t more attacks at US embassies.

What if it is backed up by the American governance?
The DHS will call the movie terrorism, ban it and arrest all participants without trial.
So is the DHS anti-American?

What is behind the statement is Globalism.

Some dick in California produced a film insulting the prophet Mohommed and everyone saw it on youtube and now there are crowds of irate muslim assholes attacking American and European embassies throughout the Middle East. Four diplomats were killed in Egypt. One US embassy somewhere issued a statement condemning the video or sympathizing with Muslims in their anger or something to that effect.

Romney basically took the opportunity to say that the White House is run by a bunch of pussies, accusing Obama of “apologizing” for American values (presumably freedom of speech), and implied pretty strongly that the attack on the embassy would never have happened if he were in office, a statement which is rivalled in its stupidity only by the reaction of rioting Muslims to the film.

Exactly. The whole thing would be a comedy if people weren’t getting murdered.

Aside from idiotic american politics, I truly wish people would stop thinking they need to get violent to protect God from words or sticks and stones. God can likely handle all this rather well him or herself.

The media’s role is usually ignored in these events, because, well, the media owns the conversation, and they don’t want to talk about it. Anderson Cooper likes to “keep THEM honest” but “keep US honest”, not so much, not at all really.

I see a partnership between media and extremists. The extremists feed the media dramatic stories and footage. The media uses this content to boost ratings and ad revenues. The extremists get free advertising that they could never afford to obtain otherwise. Media wins, extremists win, victims lose.

We in the public simply aren’t sophisticated enough to deal with modern communications, and so we get sucked right in to the violent rat hole, our eyes glued to the latest carnage.

Somebody will now wring their hands, and claim I’m talking about censorship. No, no and no.

It’s this simple. A million interesting things happened all over the planet this week. The media chose not to cover those things, and nobody worried about censorship. The media could choose not to devote endless round the clock coverage to extremists too.

There’s so much cynical skepticism and scandal mongering these days, it’s interesting that this form of media bias seems to never come up. That’s the power of owning the conversation at work. We’ve bought the media’s hero story about themselves hook, line and sinker.

I think thing I hate most media for is the way they will play fast and loose with real people’s lives to have more triggering news. Even simple things like asking people how they feel about someone else, because if they can get a quote that in some way can be construed as an attack, it may set in motion a battle they get money and attention for. And even ‘X refuses to label Y a cheater’ type non-quotes can start this kind of thing, so the interviewee has no fully safe response or lack of response to some of these questions. This vampiritic, ‘we’re just reporting the news’ stirring things up is truly evil and is creating news or non-news that can fuck people up.

It is just like the crowd that gathers around two people and encourages them to turn their disagreement into a physical fight and then roars and emotionally wanks off when they do fight, egging them on to do more damage the whole time.

No argument from here Moreno.

This is wandering off topic, but what’s really interesting is how successful the whole operation is. TV as example is a primitive medium technically, and the vast majority of the content truly sucks, but yet it dominates the public’s free time and mind space.

It’s scary to think what’s going to happen when TV and the Net evolve from the 20 inch two dimensional screen in to a truly immersive and even more interactive experience. It seems vast swaths of the population will be sucked down the rabbit hole, never to be seen in the real world again.

As it happens I just read a blog by somebody who is struggling, struggling, struggling to break free from Facebook addiction. I must admit to being totally baffled by Facebook addiction, but I know it’s real.

Perhaps that’s the battlefield of the future. The extremists will break in to Facebook, close it down, and hold it hostage to some policy demand.

I understand you mean its anti-American because its backed by freedom of speech, but have you actually seen the film?

Does anyone here know what this film is or where i can see it?
Thanks

Correct. As for your second question, that would be more appropriate to ask the rioting Muslims. Here’s what appears to be a clip of the video:

I have no idea what that video is about.
