Jesus Christ and the Sacred Mushroom

A good trip makes it kind of hard to accept the positivistic explanation of consciousness.

When you’re in it, your mind is producing thousands of images, any one of which would take a sober artist a lifetime to even come close to. It’s kind of hard to explain as being a product of gears and wheels, or the illusion produced by it. And even if it were an illusion, would it really matter?

Coming up on 50, I always pray for 2 things 1 more time before I die:

Sex and a good trip.

You have to really sympathize with Aldous Huxley who asked to be administered acid on his deathbed.

Timothy Leary argued that computer technology and virtual reality would replace the psychedelic experience. But he is only succumbing to the gears and wheels argument.

The true psychedelic experience works from the core of consciouness out. Unless the technology is tapping right into our brain, there is no way it could do that.

Nor is the experience, despite all arguments against, unproductive.

For instance, the psychedelic experience pretty much proves that our experience of reality is primarily subjective -contrary to Searle’s assertion.

Think about it: if reality was just there, the psychedelic experience would be an experience of hallucinations imposed on reality as we normally see it. But anyone who has actually experienced it knows better. It’s not just a matter of hallucinations, but how reality is transformed in general. For me, everything tends to look more cartoonish.

In other words, reality for us, has to happen in the brain, not out there. Otherwise, how could it be changed by a change in the chemistry of the brain?

Well sometimes its kinda like a computer generated program; I walk down the street and my house seams to be the same distance as when I was back up the hill a bit, as I look at the doors of houses they change as if to confound my memory of their placement. I am getting closer in my walking yet remaining the same distance in my mind, one step more and suddenly I am right outside my house!

The dialogue here seams to be between different areas of the brain, as if an interface has been placed into it ~ in-between one section and another. As the trip gets stronger more such semi-divides apportion out my places of refuge, eventually so many that the mind becomes fluid. Now, only now, does the internal dialogue cease to gain possession of me, other worlds now beckon me towards them and I am no longer captured.

In the brain yes + if there is something e.g. consciousness which literally produces colour and light [as they are not physical] there is then yet another layer to how the world is manifest to us. LSD essentially denies the connection/communication between the consciousness and the brain, whereupon the natural ability of consciousness to be the very thing of communication, begins its work with whatever else is out there.
It may be that in doing so it simply forms an interface with its future incarnation, be that another life on earth or to another world, a conscious realm. This is what in Druidry is called ‘transmigration’, its simply a fundamental nature of consciousness.

If there is anything to religion, for me its simply this.

There may be beings like a god out there, and they may wish to grab us out of the transmigratory process and plop us into some made up world [lets assume they can make worlds up just as we can] like heaven or hell, but the process seams very intimate and fundamental to the individual consciousness ~ as if it is in part made of the process.
I’d suggest that its nothing less than the most ghastly of crimes to do such a thing, though in my experience they do not, I have only experienced help. Equally, I do not think it is possible for external beings to interrupt that intimate process.

For me then its simply a matter of training, learning to be aware of the signals contained in different interfaces. In Buddhism it is said that if we are to be reborn on earth as human, we will see and be attracted to such things we were attracted to in life ~ such is the interface of human to human transmigration.

Hmm am I waffling :stuck_out_tongue:

I have done shrooms about 10 times. I remember one time I had an incredible trip and I thought about how shrooms might work and it hit me. The psylocine acts as serotonin which is what gives you stimulus so if psylocine does this then it is kinda like the shrooms speak to you. God speaks to you. You become enlightened. I do in a way believe shrooms are god because every time I did them I felt it. I felt something no christian at church has. It was indescribable, and I feel everything the way it is today is because of shrooms. Anyone who has done them knows that these shrooms aren’t just drugs. They are an experience that changes you forever.

I remember trippin out at my friends apartment and I was watching his TV and it was fuzzy because the cord was loose. I thought to myself that shrooms and bad connection can be a useful contrast. Bad connection in a TV is like signals going through but not being interpreted. SO the TV instead of being clear and vivid, is fuzzy and full of noise. When your on shrooms it is similar but on the other end of the scale. Its like having too many signals that are interpreted through your 5 senses and consciousness. So instead of dull colors like your TV becuase it is lacking signals you are seeing vivid and neon like colors. You hear sound to a new level of detail. And the part of this I found so interesting is all of this thought and contrast was caused by nothing more than a fuzzy tv. It was truly a great experience. It is like being on the pill from Limitless.

In fact I haven’t been on for awhile because of my tripping and shaman-like lifestyle.

McKenna argued that shrooms are nature’s way of communicating with us.

He also argued that shrooms may explain how the human mind developed in the relativaly short time span it did:

When our ancestors came down out of the trees, they found mushrooms.

Closely connected to this would be my right to claim that the third grade engineer’s license, 2 OS diplomas, CompTia A+ certification, and 3 microsoft office certifications came out of the intellectual curiousity that came from my experiments with drugs.

Nice. I meditated on the stuff and found a complete feeling. That’s how I would describe it. I can see how it would be able to inspire or aid someone in spirit.

If Revelations wasn’t induced by hallucinogens I don’t know what is.

Ya I wished I had taken LSD earlier as I was in my twenties before I got the fever for knowledge. Strangely everyone said my accent changed from west country to oxford style too, I suppose I just wanted to speak more clearly though I cannot remember consciously thinking about such a change.

I think that diversity increases intellect + being forced to confront the mind and various issues thereof, so really they should have shroom classes at uni.

Yes. Unfortunately, if you are too much younger than I am, you would have missed out on the really good stuff. The irony of it is that the war on drugs managed to stamp out far less dangerous and actually productive drugs while opening a door for far more insidious and non-productive drugs such Crack and Crank.

The interesting thing about Crack is that ancient Incas considered coca a blessing from the gods to them that would turn into a curse to the white man. At the time, the Spaniards were conquering the south Americas. And thanks to the miracle of modern chemistry, this has pretty much been proven prophecy in the form of Crack. Even Crank is implicit in this to the extent that it was considered a more powerful alternative to coke, an alternative that turned to nastier bathtub recipes after the war on drugs wiped out the better quality-based labs.

The real irony of it lies in the fact that the War on Drugs was instigated for the higher principle of producer/consumer Capitalism.

Crack and Crank were the reaction of the perfectly Laisse Faire market that supplied the drugs.

Yes indeed, I am not sure what the game is really.

Perhaps they like ‘opium for the people’ in all its forms?

…and something that increases intelligence and decreases tolerance [acid shrooms hash] are not top of their list.

You notice that they tend to have no problem with drugs that dull the edge of creativity, such as anti-depressents and anti-psychotics, yet are hell bent on destroying any drug that actually enhances creativity: such as pot or acid. If I were purely interested in just getting high, all I would have to do is go to my doctor and say I’ve been feeling a little despondent and depressed lately.

And as much as I hate to admit it, being an alcoholic myself, I sometimes have to wonder if alcohol hasn’t become a kind “opiate for the people” despite its more sacred/dionysian properties. Make no mistake about it, people in Nazi Germany drank, and drank a hell of a lot. It probably felt like freedom, but clearly wasn’t.

I’m a bit of an alcoholic too ~ seams like everyone is these days, and yet booze is half price everywhere one goes, :-k its probably the oldest opiate in the book for western societies.
Alcohol is like a priest master of its own religion, it only cares that you want it and all your efforts are towards such ends. Just what any dictator wants eh!

If you saw the episode you’d know it was the second or third mushrooms christian occult joke or reference. It was supposedly just an episode of family guy about stewie being the king or catholic priest and being a huge dick, but having a small one.

He plays the game but he whispers because this is supposed to tell you “secret, christ” Theres a secret he knows about christ.

Some say irony. Some say intended effect.

If you look at every move made by the establishment as a move to remove any spiritual elements from our planet, then literally everything makes a whole lot of sense.

Acid is pretty much not made anymore, because it’s like a schedule 1 drug in the states, and canada.
DMT, another schedule 1, comes from the rainforests… wonder why the rainforest are being clearcut?
Shrooms are vilified by every show on television, CSI and that garbage leading the charge.
Obviously pot would be legal now if the powers at be could stomach the masses thinking outside of the box, and using cannabis’ healing power to avoid using pharmaceuticals.

I could go on for hours like this…

What entity would have the desire to systematically turn the entire human race into a dark, demonic-like race?

satan.

Exactly, Gobo, an Orwellian trap.

They set it up so that it fails, catastrophically, then step in to offer a solution.

When I went through diversion for a DUI, I had to go through “intensive outpatient therapy”. In my group was a guy that had to go through it because he kept failing piss tests on the job because of marijuana. I remember one of the counselors telling him that his boss obviously cared about him to give him that chance. He, of course, played along even though he was in a band which explains the use he had for the pot as a creative tool. Of course he did this to keep his job.

I think we’re all smart enough to see the bullshit involed here: the orwellian trap.

Most of those in the rehab industry would see this as his failure. They would say “see what pot got you?”

But we all know this is bullshit. What got the young man there was the fact that they were testing his urine in the first place…

Now the supposed agreement in a capitalist society is that I will give a certain amount of my time and effort for a certain amount of money and benifits. But what the random piss test tells us is that not only do they own the time you give them, they own you as well.

Now guys, I know I seem a little neurose and hyperbolic; but we really need to take a look at what we’re up against here.

I say we’re facing the very Beast christianity warned us of.

And we will not just vote it away.
