Journal of the boring and mundane

Have been spending the weekend in California for vacation.

Taking the grandchildren to an ocean life aquarium was fun. The penguin exhibit was probably my favorite.

I can spend hours in comic book stores, the rarest the edition of comics the better. Many great finds today!

Then of course bringing the grandchildren to the park enjoying root-beer ice cream floats. It’s the simplest things in life that are the most memorable and makes life worth living. Me and my wife went to a lovely Italian bistro afterward. So far this Labor Day weekend is on to a nice start.

My last week of summer vacation begins next week on Thursday!

Six whole days of paid vacation!

You must be perfect at all times to hold a full-time steady job in financial security, the moment you show weakness or imperfection they swat you down like a fly destroying you completely. I have learned this lesson all too well over the years but what really irks me is perfection expected in the workplace for bullshit pay. Even with the most worst, disgusting, absurd, and joke of working wages they still expect perfection out of all workers.

I dislike this system so much.

There are some days I can feel the stress eating me alive and I wonder as I get older if I am going into ill health overtime.

This getting old shit is no fun at all.

I think about Buddha a lot and wonder how he would survive in this nation of ours.

How would he survive in this post modern world that is the epitome of humanity’s peak of wickedness, corruption, selfishness, evil, and amorality?

I do try my best to live in his footsteps even though I know that I would probably fail his expectations. You really have to be a divine saint or divine God of compassion to survive in this modern world unaffected by the evil that permeates everywhere.

I do the best I can as the imperfect Buddhist. I know that I am not perfect but at least I don’t pretend to be something I am not.

It is hard to live a virtuous spiritual life of tranquility or deep meditation in an active global dark age. It is extremely hard to walk a spiritual path in this environment, nonetheless I try to every single day even when everything seems to be hopeless.

Let my defiance be this strong before I die and let me not give into total despair.

Vacation time!

Nothing like grilling some ribeye steak and potatoes while drinking some coconut water.

Delicious.

Note to self, too much Sriracha sauce is a terrible thing. Got to go easy on that stuff.

It disagrees with me.

I seem to be ailing from insomnia lately.

Sometimes the simple things in life like spending an evening with your wife and grandchildren is the most important thing in the world where nothing else matters. All other things are miniscule compared to that.

Cats are best, yes :+1:

That beautiful feeling when you come across two comic prints from the 1980s worth $100.00 that then becomes a part of your private collection.

That feeling you get when you use a bottle of vodka for a tooth infection because you know you cannot afford dental surgery.

Pain was so bad I wanted to use a knife in my own mouth to extract it myself.

Poor people’s problems Americana.

Like in the old days, they would do that. If you were lucky a doctor could be brought and give you some laudanum. But they will just shove a knife in there and cut the tooth out.

Sad to see this still goes on in the “civilized first world” today.

The United States has perfect healthcare, it’s just that you have to be rich and superwealthy to afford it. The poor like myself are left with medieval practices just to survive.

I have health insurance at my job and it only covers 15% of overall expenses and of course the medical prices for everything is outrageous.

Then on top of that add onto forty plus years of stagnating wages in what is financially a very inflationary environment in terms of monetary depreciation of the currency we’re all paid in. In my lifetime the dollar has lost 75% of its original value.

The greatest nation on earth if you’re rich. If not, massive suffering and misery is the norm.

Sad but true, and this is the inevitability of capitalism. I have nothing or very little against capitalism in its earlier and smaller forms, except that it already contains this seed of its own destruction, namely the logical inevitability that it will grow and grow becoming more and more corrupt and bloated and wasteful and oppressive and ultimately evil in the end.
