Just a thought on plastic surgery, parents and kids

Lets say Mom gets her nose fixed from a real honker to a cute button nose, permenatly removes that unibrow adds a few inches to her breasts and becomes blonde.

Now lets say Dad gets a chin job blonde hair implants gets his eyelids lifted and ears trimmed down some and gets all natural fat removed by stomach stapling.

Now lets say these two fairly plastic people never tell each other what they were before they marry or after. Now here comes the kids, Well each parent is thinking the kids will take after the other spouse.

And lo and behold out comes baby girl and baby boy gargoyle twins. what do you all think is going to happen here.

This is a real question because I guarantee that this is happening now, world wide.

This is why I am dead set against cosmetic surgery for vanity. It is truly the most saddest lie of all.

Kids are growing up wondering why Mom and Dad are so good looking and they are not.
Mom and Dad are to cowardly to face each other with the truth unless someone from their past speaks up.

So what do you all think? Am I off the mark here or what?

Kris, I think this is actually a funny scenario. I am picturing the parents discussing having plastic surgery done on the kids at some point without revealing that they have done it themselves. Vanity would preclude this sort of revelation, and we would expect this degree of vanity from such parents. The funny part is - what features to change? And into what? - Each parent would favor the features they had themselves paid for.

Now picture the next generation, and the next.

Also, since each parent is unaware of the others’ surgery, would some questions arise as to the fidelity of the mother? Of course, each knows what he/she used to look like, but that might not be a big help.

Movie script?

Portent:

Anxiety and self-disgust is the focus of all child abuse. Current mutations will not be easily recognized for many decades.

When one considers that the size and shape of genitals can be manipulated through plastic surgery then the potential storylines become a little darker and even funnier.

Yes a funny scenario indeed.
Good thing I’m not totally hideous, or mabye I would consider cosmetic surgery.

But seriously, I do agree with you on this one. Cosmetic surgery is downright…weird, its really not something that should be so socially accepted.

Whats the name of that damn movie…can’t remember, where cosmetic surgery prevalent, and terrorist propaganda is abound, and beauracracy (sp) rules society…well in any case, thats what cosmetic surgery today is laying the groundwork for.

I dunno, Kebop. I have had some, er, tactile experience with “enhanced” breasts, and, well, they’re nothing but fun. The particular ones that I have had experience with, at least. Surely there’s nothing wrong with a little fun, is there?

faust,

What DO you mean by fun? Do they have a mind of their own? Do they play WITH you? I mean, I don’t understand the entertainment factor other than the obvious size fixation for men who love overly-enhanced boobies. I can tell fake boobs a million miles away. They do not move the same as mine and they seem so (hard?) I have never felt them so I wouldn’t know, but they look uncomfortable - like when your milk comes in. LOL

But I thought your view of them being plain fun - was well er um, - kinda funny.

Well, Bessy, since you ask. While they do not have a mind of their own, they do, unlike most inanimate objects, seem to defy gravity. In fact, they do not “need” to be inanimate at all. And they do not play with you, you play with them.

I am not a particular fan of large breasts, for the record. Men can often tell fake boobs - we just don’t care. What you call “hard”, I might call “firm and delightful”.

And what you may call “kinda funny” I may also call “kinda funny”, but only if I think about it. With my brain.

You may think me quite superficial, but I will remind you that superficiality only runs skin-deep.

kriswest,

First off, this would be the best gag ever (gagging optional). Secondly, mum’s the word. Just hope the kids don’t look anything like the postman, poolboy, milkman, the occasional family friend, the next door neighbor…

Bessy,

How do yours move? A detailed description will help in this very comprehensive analysis.

Not cosmetic surgery per se - I have no problem with cancer patients being given breast implants or burn victims having skin grafts or a dozen other situations. False testicles - a subject for one of my short stories.

You are thinking of Terry Gilliam’s Brazil, which is a loose adaptation of 1984 by George Orwell. A strange, beautiful and utterly flawed movie. Like most of Gilliam’s work.

Indeed, I understand your point, many things in my opinion however, are much better when they are natural.

Ok I agree sitcom humor. But really folks there are alot of kids being born world wide that are going to have some serious questions and doubts. Should we in the USA quickly shut off California transients due to this possible mental handicap? Or should we amend the constitution?

I mean think about it: You are a gargoyle and your parents are perfect and plastic unbeknownst to you and the opposing spouse. What liabilities are there? Californians and NewYork city folks are the predominant culprits. let us mention London and Paris, Denmark, etc… All the cities have this phenomena happening. There is going to be an entire generation of gargoyles because of vanity.

I don’t look at a person’s features and judge them I am myself not pretty, but, really face facts, there are some features that should never be melded. And to hide features is just wrong. I think plastic surgery unless it is to correct a real deformity or accidental injury should be illegal world wide to protect kids. :astonished:

I am not a bigot but, I am concerned with mental suffocation.

Kris, what if we’re talking about a couple of real weirdos who each have plastic surgery to make themselves look less attractive? Whatever their motivation - that’s their problem. But they get themselves all gargoylic and then have kids. Let’s say that they produce very beautiful children. How do the kids feel then?

How about thin people who raise fat kids? Fat people who raise skinny kids? A stomach and an ass are features that we can alter, and that affect attractiveness. Without surgery.

Is a big nose unattractive? Is one that is unusually small unattractive? What if the kids think they are attractive, even if you don’t? What of the idea that preventing elective plastic surgery is as shallow as allowing it? Is our worth truly to be determined by the way we look?

Myself, I am glad I am ugly. It’s forced me to develop compensatory talents, like listening, caring, empathy, and the ability to slip a small capsule into a drink unnoticed.

What protects kids from having shallow, clueless people for parents?

Hmm , Good thought there. My thoughts just mainly run towards kids looking at their folks not seeing anything about them familiar and then finding out Mom and dad are really plastic. World wide middle class and up, these young folks are destined to be in control of economies and gov’t.s and here the two people in their lives that they should trust the most gave them one big whopping lie. Even if as you suggest mom and dad did ugly plastic surgery it would still amount to knowing your parents are plastic, it is the same thing. It could be really a far reaching mental problem.

Protect kids from shallow parents? well we don’t do that now. But don’t you think that plastic surgery is being sold too much? The next step is Wal-mart having out patient plastic surgery/ Get your groceries, tools and a new nose all at Wally world. Hmm scary thought.

Plastic surgery is also alllowing folks to evade responsibility, People who would rather not be identified by Gov’t.s or legitimate complaintants use it.

Should not there be some controls in place to keep people from being able to change their face and bodies in order to protect others who may be affected by their physical identity change?

Of course, by ensuring that ugly people fuck up their kids by deceiving them both the plastic surgery industry and the psyquiatric industry ensure a healthy flow of future customers. It’s pretty obvious how the two industries are linked so I won’t spell it out.

what about when a woman who wants to have a sex change to become a man and goes to her surgeon and has an addadictome preformed?

-Imp

Kris - there are adopted kids, kids with two moms, kids with two dads. Kids think that what they grow up with is “normal”. The herd will always be the herd.

Yeah, society has an interest in protecting itself from fraud, from the evasion of justice, sure. I’m just not sure of the practical ramifications of preventing a felon from plastic surgery - how that is enforced.

I agree that it is troublesome that people are so shallow. But there are so many ways that this is expressed. I’m not sure you can legislate against it. I empathise with the sentiment. But I have long given up on shallow people, myself. Too much else to do.

I just bury my (unaltered) nose in ILP when it gets me down.

Data

Plastic surgery of the aesthetic variety is an annihilation of the self. It is seen as a positive affirmation of self-love, but is really an act based on self-disgust.

Portent

Plastic surgery is a denial of the randomly produced aesthetic that is the human form. The plastic surgery movement will continue to spread disgust regarding the human aesthetic. This will never become common knowledge and the result will be a confused dissatisfaction with everyone’s appearance by a vast number of the population.

Ah an end to a thread. and very well done too, I might add.
