I can kick the ball. I can choose not to kick the ball. If I am offered a million pounds to kick the ball I will kick it unless I am offered more not to kick it.Whatever I do is caused , but I get to choose the cause. My will is free to choose.

No , you don’t get to choose what is offered, but you do get to choose what offer you accept.There could be a bidding war between two people, one offering you money to kick the ball, the other offering you money not to. In that circumstance you get to choose how much money you are willing to accept based around how much time you are willing to wait for it (given the ongoing bidding war), how desperate for money you are and whether you trust the bidders.

In other words , everything we do is caused, but we choose between caused options, our will is free within the confines of external reality.

This has seriously got my back up tonight. Some jerk off believes he has a right to intercede in an open discussion , to tell people what they should think about someone else’s opinions, in fact to tell them not to talk with him.That kind of jerk off would never do it in reality, he’d never walk in front of me an tell others they shouldn’t talk to me, but here he feels safe.
