I was just wondering if anyone else thought that these guys who had such radically different conclusions, had quite a lot in common. E.g. in their critique of 19th century Christendom, the ideas of the knight of faith and the ubermensch…Kierkegaards stages of life and Nietzsche’s master-slave morality and basically their belief life should be lived passionately and subjectively. As I understand it, Nietzsche hadnt really read Kierkegaard but I wonder what he would have made of him…
Any of u Nietzsche experts out there got any thoughts, or neone else for that matter!
I haven’t read any Kierkegaard, so I don’t know anything about this ‘Knight of faith’, but what I do know is that Zarathustra (the avatar of the ubermensch) does not demand faith. Nietzsche is explicit about this in Ecce Homo.
