Kuwait?

Due to Magj’s 30 pound post in the Essay thread, I got a little curious and went skimming through world currencies by comparison to the American dollar.

I ended up finding out that Kuwaiti dinar is worth $3.4 USD!

Wow!
I mean…what the hell??
Really?

How much does a loaf of bread cost and how much does the average income make?

Wiki…

:astonished:

WTF??!!

So I’ve got to see what the cost of living is now…

justlanded.com/english/Kuwai … -of-Living

So…a family like mine costs 1,184.6 dinar a month to live.
And the average person (without being technical in trade) is 1,220.5 dinar.

That’s a surplus of 35.9 dinar a month.
That’s $125 USD.

Well…that makes more sense.

However, I fall into the classification of Manager now-a-days…so my surplus is nearing the ranges of $2,000 to 5,000/month!
:astonished:

Good lord!
WTF??

I should note however, this doesn’t account for medical, transportation, safety, work to leisure, etc…

And on that note of such things, I give you the world chart of best places to live:

Seems like our family plan of looking at the idea of moving France at some point in the future for a better future for our kids wasn’t such a bad idea.

Look at the PPP, the PPP per capita, and the gini index. Taking all those variables into consideration, well, you get a different picture.

Single-product countries can have some crazy values, especially when that single product is incredibly valuable – you know, like oil.

You need to take the whole picture into consideration.

Kuwaitis are generally pleasant individuals, rather subdued in comparison to most individuals from Muslim nations with which I am familiar.

The ones I have known/met/conversed with were always courteous, well spoken and appeared to be well educated.

But the country … screw that, I don’t care what the SOL is there, the country sucks balls.

Is there any country left in the world where their basal unit offers value for money percentage-wise…? or should that be any country worth living in… 8-[

In terms of countries, possibly not Mags … but there are still plenty of beautiful and tactically defensible mountains, upon which to reside …

Does that help?

Don’t get me wrong…I wasn’t suggesting that Kuwait was a great place to jump ship to  .
There are so many problems with that idea, as most of you know and have pointed out.

I was more just amazed at the exchange rate…just wasn’t expecting that at all; that’s a very, very large gap (and no one else really comes close).

But along the tangent of what you all have been pointing out, I will again just simply say…yep, France is great.

Compare against…Kuwait skyline…mmm…coming from America at least…this isn’t that appealing.
Looks like a smaller Seoul, South Korea to me.

WTF? France? Oh hell noes, U ditint!!!

The only place to be, if you have to put up with other hominids.

I saw an episode of No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain where he was in Istanbul, and Turkey looks like it has some incredible food, in my opinion.

Yes Sicily is also quite nice…but I like France’s health care and college setup when thinking of my kids.
Besides…they have fancy French cheese :stuck_out_tongue:

(but since my wife’s background is Sicilian, that has been on the plate of options before as well)

Oh the despair you cause, your increase of injuries mount!!!

I prefer provolone or asiago; pagani!!!

Well yeah…we live on those cheeses, lol.
But as my wife and I were talking about this and agreed; it’s better to marry a Sicilian and take them to France than to marry a French and take them Sicily.

And of course, as we all know, never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

No #-o

By the way TS, Sicily is beautiful (almost tropical) in nature, and has the most amazing food :stuck_out_tongue:

Yep, three things stop me on that count in all seriousness:

  1. I like the French medical and collegiate arrangements by relation to tax.
  2. I would like to live by as few volcanoes as possible after leaving Alaska.
  3. I enjoy French culture and philosophy (second to Irish rural culture and philosophy).

That said, we have great interest in visiting Sicily; along with much of the area.

LMAO =D> well said Stumps, well said.

I think this is mythology and hyperbole; Sicilians are just a private type of people. (sweeping generality  )

You know Mags, whenever we exchange posts, for some strange reason, at the end of it … I feel as though I should be wearing one of those extra padded helmets and going out to wait for one of those “special” buses …

Really, it’s a rather odd sensation … [-(

Sorry Mas, that’s never been my intention… I prefer spreading my optimistic warmth and cheer where-ever I go. Can you feel it? huh? can you…?

Oh my, yes, Mags, the booted heel of your ever-present optimism has come down firmly upon my neck.

My happiness exponentiates in direct correlation!!!

(lol, I’m just kidding, just kidding … don’t go Joan of Arc on me!!!)

No…it’s pretty accurate.
My wife’s family is all Sicilian separated by only 2 generations on ye olde boat from Sicily, and mostly stayed within ethnics for the first generation (on both sides).

The only socializing I see going on is in the sense of dramatics within the family; very tight knit group…and all absolutely bonkers or absolutely fricken awesome and chill…no real middle ground, lol.

However, the two modes of persona I largely see are A) showboat or B) reclusive…bonkers and chill tend to lineup respectively to these.

But most of the family is reclusive and happy enough just being with each other and not going out a whole bunch.
The ones that like to go out a bunch, are also the men that are very alpha genetically, showboat by result, and pretty bonkers in rationality…probably partly due to the very strong alpha gene.
I mean…these alpha guys look like He-man relatives.
The others look like the typical thin Sicilian one thinks of.

All are relatively short by American standards.

Oh, no, the dichotomy is very interesting with Sicilians, I’m group B.

My comment was actually a joke about the fact that Sicilian = il cosca, that’s what I meant.
