You’ve always seemed
an old soul to me.
Although you’re inexperienced
in much of life,
and there is much
that I still have
to teach you,
there’s always been something –
something behind those eyes of yours,
telling me you’ve seen all this before.
You’re much more the man than I was
at your age, you know.
Much more.
And now,
thinking about it,
it seems funny,
that I’ve been holding myself responsible
for raising you
to the light,
when it was you,
all along,
and what’s behind those eyes,
that carried me there in the first place.
