Let's Ban Civilian Aircraft !!

* Let’s Ban Civilian Aircraft *

* No more, shall aircraft be used to transport human beings.

 • However, aircraft will be allowed for the military, and for the transport of civilian goods.

" But what about all the poor tourists, SirEbrum… they will be crying."

So what !!?.. It’s a small price to pay for putting an end to all this terrorist shit.

Edit : As has been noted in some of the posts below, my use of the phrase
‘CivIlian Aircraft’ is flawed. I should have used ‘Passenger Jets’.

I love the link in your sig. Love the song (have the album, been to see them twice), love the video. Great stuff.

" Power of the still image, married (perfectly) to the tempo and mood of a powerful song = quality shit."

But you speak nothing of the planes SIATD !!

there will always be weak spots… to erradicate terrorism, you have to remove the grounds on which it grows: misery, violence, alienation,…

Profound statement…

You will also have to remove other things which are hidden by terror alerts. Such as oil drop-offs and declining in polls.

I agree with this 100 percent. Maybe even more.

willem,

I’m not talking about eradicating terrorism. I’m talking about eradicating people getting blown up in aircraft.

For now, we need to ban passenger jets, because in the current climate they are too dangerous.

The people need to be protected from the greedy, uncaring airline companies.

I myself, have never understood this need to travel around the world. Perhaps it’s OK for emigration reasons, but to do it several times a year, just for fun, or ‘shopping’, just seems ridiculous to me.

Right, lose your freedom to travel because we are worried because of terrorism. Should we not travel by rail either after the Spanish train station bombing. Nope. My son flies, I do, and Mum will be returning from the UK on the 18th. She is visiting relatives. After living through the Lufwaffe bombing of Plymouth and London, she refuses to be cowed by terrorists and is 81. The Brits were not cowed during WWII, 7/7, the IRA bombings, and I prefer to have a backbone rather than be cowed by those who try to intimidate me. Take precautions, be careful, sure, but lose our freedom to fly.

I happen to enjoy seeing the world, visiting relatives, etc. Why should I be prevented from doing so because you are worried regarding an attack.

Airlines are in business to make a profit, but they have take precautions, reinforced the pilot doors, and they know to screen passengers. Hell, last year I had to be screened, they used a metal detector, and tore my luggage appart and I drew the lucky number to have a thorough search. Did I complain? HELL NO!

Will you really live this way, not fight back, give up your way of life because of fear? A coward dies a thousand deaths. try to have the courage to freely live your life.

terrorism follows people not planes

aspacia,

sighs

I just feel sorry for people who aren’t able to derive a sense of wonder and awe by taking
a day trip to a local forest or beach… It’s enough for me.

Anyone who has enough money to blow on frivolous holidays, has too much money. And
their affluence fuels the “misery, violence and alienation” of those who become terrorists.

let’s ban civilians

-Imp

Did you ever think for one minute that much of the misery is created by Third World corrupt leaders.

Let us take it to another step: How about those who blow money on frivolous computers, a car, cell phone, television having too much money. They are consuming too much energy, should walk to work, and give all extra funds to the poor. How much of the above do you have?

Again, another poster telling me that I have too much money. I do not, and know how to scrimp and save for a nice holiday. When growing-up my mother’s entire pay check went into trips, and we lived on father’s income. It is called financial discipline. I remember her mixing dry milk with regular milk, ick. The whole family, including father, rebelled and she was forced to only purchase regular milk.

Remember, I drive an 86 Acura, and only purchase a new computer when mine is going out. Since 1989 I have had three computers. In Nevada I only have an air mattress, computer desk, chair, monitor, printer, tiny 15" color television with no remote, and it is sitting on boxes. The apartment came with a washer, dryer, microwave, stove, oven and fridge. My needs are small.

Sure, we have a house full of quality furniture, but it was purchased one item at a time. Why purchase more when my other half and this furniture will eventually be moved to Nevada. Why move the furniture twice?

No, I will not feel guilty for earning what I have. Jealous?

Leave the civilian aircraft alone! Ban all the commercial aircraft. Think about it. In civilian aircraft you just get in the plane and fly to your destination. Fly commercially and you have to submit to a body cavity search. hmmm, well, some might like that part, but that’s a different thread… :astonished:

 Go more into this.

So, terrorists fly around in little biplanes, aiming to put atleast one or two windows out of a government building?

Sniper rifles and car bombs, that’s what gets used. Planes? No.

aspacia,

My frivolous shit would be :

 • computer - desktop (over 4 years old).

 • car - don’t have one (I have a bicycle).

 • cell phone - bought second-hand for 10 Euros (over 4 years old).

 • television - 14 inch, 7 years old.

 • food - two meals a day (one of which is only a bowl of cereal).

 • job - currently don’t have one… don’t want one… don’t believe in one.

Living like this is easy for me as I’ve never known any different. As a kid, I grew up
wearing second-hand clothes, and was never given pocket-money.

I’ve never been on a passenger jet.

So, am I jealous of you ?.. No, you are trapped by your trappings… and I am free.

I am aware of that mistake, but my opening post - in it’s entirety - makes sense.

Gyroman has the solution to our transport problem.

Michael,

I forgot all about gyroman! But remember, the whole flick was about the battle over controlling the fuel supply. Some things never change…
