Sometimes people do things against their better judgement, others still do but far less so.
There is also something about them or what they do that makes them appeal to others.
Some by fate or by there actions take up theirs roles.
Some when there old, others while they are young.
Some are fated for tragedy, either of the sudden or more dramatic variety.
Perception is key, for this is how the mood is set.
The same scene and character can be interperated a 100 times more than the author ever intended.
And of course the Author itself is a character.
Virtue, Honor, Brotherhood, Affection, Respect, Dignity, Serenity, Clarity…just a few Traits I Respect and would be Honored to live up to or encounter.
What of you? What is your character, your perception and your role?
As much as I play into the thoughtful, rational type and enjoy arguing and meeting arguments with precision, I am most at home as a free flowing artist. I’m not sure what kind of art I practice, but I’m inspired by this thought:
It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look. To affect the quality of the day: that is the highest of arts. ~Henry David Thoreau
Is it really? Live long enough to discover that life is a series of experiences, most of which do not lead to knowledge as people are wont to repeat their mistakes over and over. The truism that “doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result is the defintion of insanity” certainly applies to people. If life is about gathering knowledge, the awareness that one is repeating mistakes (socially the mistakes are gross and huge) would say that knowledge does not cause people to change, hence has no value. So, this begs the question: why gather knowledge? And to what end, unless one knows that s/he goes on living past the demise of the body and can get to use that knowledge in some way? In the event that the end of the body is the end of one’s life, who would benefit from this supposed gathered knowledge since it remains painfully evident that only the privileged few get to pass on their so-called knowledge with which they saddle society as a whole, a knowledge that once ensconsced within the power structure becomes little more than endless idiocies and atrocities?
yes.Life is a characteristic that distinguishes objects that have signaling and self-sustaining processes from those that do not, either because such functions have ceased (death), or else because they lack such functions and are classified as inanimate.
as we all know life processes comes from sun light i’m ma right?
In our life we are discovering lots of things. Some times we may fail in that but that increases our confidence.
I am trying to make my way in a world where obstacles are set in place to further those who are less gifted, but I am damn well enjoying the ride so I thank them for that
I would say that hopefully it is one with the ocean, which flows and ebbs, and has great depth to it, one with light, which shines and one with nature and the elements, which is ever changing.
Hehe… loved the intro… (thanks for the vid, Fent – oops, I mean fuse.)
I loved that McKenna touched on the power of language (symbols) and particularly that he referred to it as ‘magical philosophies’. =D>
To me, language is a key to understanding our world – a world of magic and illusion. The reason we think like we do, is because of the structure and unexamined assumptions of the language we use. We cannot go beyond it because there is no language that will take us there. In ancient Sanskrit, the word for illusion is ‘maya’; maya also means ‘magic’ or ‘magical creativity’.
I disagree with McKenna in dissing physics and mathematics, though. Mathematics is just another language (set of symbols) used to describe reality and in doing so, it creates our reality in the process just as words do. Mathematics is the basis of technology, for instance, and technology is what is being used to re-create our world (for the benefit of the black magicians).
To quote Einstein: “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” I would add… and we cannot think differently by using the same language.
Sorry OP… gone off track a bit here. What’s my character… my perception and role in this life?
Recently, I’ve taken on the role of white magician. This is why I moved to the country. My role is not to create external spells but to ‘dispel’ internal ones. Then I’ll retire as a Zen monk.
