Jesus or Christ
I do not believe in you
That is, I do not worship you
But you have always been on my mind
You seemed to me at times ideal
At other times you seemed unfair
But most of the time, I thought of you as lonely
Your friends were never able to understand you
They often let you down and dissapointed you
They never rose to the occassion
You were alone as a leader for the rest
You would have made a great dad
And a great mother too
In many ways, I want a wife like you
Someone strong, bold, assertive
Unafraid of personal pain
While seemingly taking on the world’s
You would stand up to me
While you would be gentle too
I feel lonely, Jesus
And through this loneliness
I think I understand you better
I still do not believe
Or, perhaps I refuse
But I will be more like you
Changing the world
A person at a time
"Something wonderful has happened to me. I was caught up into seventh heaven. There sat all the gods in assembly. By special grace I was granted the privilege of making a wish. “Wilt thou,” said Mercury, “Have youth or beauty or power or a long life or the most beautiful maiden or any of the other glories we have in the chest? Choose, but only one thing.” For a moment I was at a loss. Then I addressed myself to the gods as follows: “Most honorable contemporaries, I choose this one thing, that I may always have the laugh on my side.” Not one of the gods said a word; on the contrary, thay all began to laugh. From that I concluded that my wish was granted, and found that the gods knew how to express themselves with taste; for it would hardly have been suitable for them to have answered gravely: “Thou wish is granted.”
This calls for a little sing-along to the pleasant little ditty known as “Jesus Built My Hotrod” by one of industrial music’s pioneer’s, Ministry, but with Gibby Haynes of Butthole Surfers on lead vovals --not Al Jorgenson - Ministry’s usual frontman-- from their '92 album "psalm 69. Follow the bouncing ball everyone.
why this didn’t rocket to the top of the popcharts or win a bunch of grammies or golden globes is beyond me - the video is a hoot too…
