America is losing the war on terrorism for very philosophical reasons. The main one is that America refuses to see that terrorism is an effect, a tactic, not a cause. The cause is militant islam. That is the philosophy that motivates the terrorists, and any war on terror, must mean a war on radical islam.

I agree. I just posted a question on the word Terrorism wealthin the Questions thread before seeing this.

The definitions of words like Terrorism and Patriotism are being altered in the minds of Americans. I wonder how many people notice.

I am with you JS but I say let’s blast the hell out of Islam period. Then let’s nuke Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and the remaining religious/philosophies, that [divide humanity](http://www.thelastwhy.ca/journal/2005/9/14/humanity-divided-2.html). Next we should stick a knife in the heart of ‘Republican’tism’, ‘Democratism’, Conservatism, Liberalism, Communism, Socialism and the remaining political philosophies, that divide humanity. At the same time we should poison materialism which divides humanity. In waging war against these causes no one would get killed and we just might prevent our self-destruction.

At least you guys only ever have to put up with the same leader for two terms. Thankfully, however, John Howard has announced he’s quitting after the next election. I really hate the guy. Since he’s been in uni has gone from a bit over $1000 a year (for everyone) to (in some cases) over $6000 a year. And I’ll never forget how my brother was told that he would have to give up his PhD to flip burgers, if the opportunity arose. I wonder what Impenitent would have to say?

How about neo-Nazi terrorists?

The cause is not just militant Islam. The cause, from your perspective, would be any form of honest illiberalism. It is a war of honest illiberalism against pseudo-liberalism (honest liberalism being complete nihilism).

There are many unsaid Jewish terrorists, and actual Israeli spies inside of America. Some of the former US presidents spoke of this problem, but the modern presidents don’t even dare talk about it. They’re in even deeper shit now than ever. Corruption in the USA government is not just a matter of hidden agendas and corporations, it’s also highly a matter of political spies, in this case, moles meant to control the entire goverment or at-least influence it.

A “terrorist” is very similar to a spy. He is international, secretive, clandestine, and undermineing. Only an army of spies can defeat another army of spies. Direct military tactics will not ever defeat real “terrorism”, in any way other than defeating a few of their small tactical armies/fighting groups.

You are right that terrorism is an effect, but I don’t think militant Islam is it’s cause. (If so, the resistance to the German occupation in Europe during WWII would also have had to have been Islamic)

**The cause for terrorism throughout the ages is oppressive authority. People with few means take on a people with a lot of means.**

how can american’s say they are better then islams,… if american’s as a collective choose to ignore and neglect God.

We are very divided in that area, so we choose to ignore it when other people severly foul up. After all it would force americans to examine themselves in that area,… and america is now defined as allowing people to be as stupid as they want to be.

Such a good topic.

America isn’t dumb. In our history we’ve faced terrorism many times before. The trouble is that this type of political organization needs to fall from the inside. In theory the ideals have nothing to do with Islam. But in reality Islam is only the vessel currently infected by the disease.

The smartest way I can think of to win lies in defining Islam. If it’s up for grabs the name of Islam should reflect the Dr of Mid East studies at a university vs the tribal war lord. This is probably (I don’t know for sure) what happened in Christianity. Today the inquistor would not be welcomed to speak and write books in a mega church.

He’d have to buy sinners pizza and hound them in person instead of killing them. His Christianity would no longer be tolerated by Christians.

Of course not all terrorists are motivated by Islam, there are other ideologies that will also give rise to such a tactic. But today, in the “War on Terror” as America struggles to maintain its occupation in Iraq and Afghanistan, the terrorist that we perceive as the biggest threat (as the onces who carried out 9/11) are Islamic.

But the pattern would be the same with any terrorist group. You can not wage war against a tactic, you must wage war against the ideology that supports it.
