Hey, thank god you saved it. I thought it was lost.
Unfortunately, momentarily I am in the midst of mid-term exams, essay hand-ins, and the such. I will likely respond in about a week.
Hang in there.

gomendasai…
Sorry about that guys… don’t send an assassination squad out for me…

SMOOTH!
Hey long time, no-hear-from…well, sorta.
Say, uh, I see you posted just two days ago…do you have consistant access to ILP or your email? We should chat sometime…
Undergroundman,
hold on tight, I should be done with my hectic schedule soon…
Eh… Don’t worry, I have finals too right now; and I would just like to say: Ahhhhhh!!
Hey Undergroundman,
I know its been a while and I still haven’t responded. I just don’t feel like playing, I may respond in the future. This may sound like a cop-out, me fleeing like a chicken when the fire has started my way…if you should feel that that is the reason I don’t want to continue, let it be.
I am sorry, for it isn’t nice to just stop playing.
Take care,
~Magius
I played this out on my board, which sits close by patiently waiting a game, and I’ve already noticed distinct characteristics in both of your styles…
After seeing you both eliminate your queens rather carelessly, (not a wise choice in my opinion), you both tend to treat threats in the same way. Instead of running away from them, you hold the knife closer. When Magius threatened UMan’s Bishop, the response was not to run away, but threaten the opposing Knight…how amusing.
After this brief skirmish, UMan seems persistently dependant on the capability of his pawns…pushing more of them out on the battlefield, forming a moving wall. Magius on the other hand appears to not know what to do next as he has his Knight prance around the board. The dependance on the Knight at this moment is obvious.
I am eager to see how this game will continue to develop. Will UMan’s Pawns move in deeper for the kill? Or will Magius break out with some stunning maneuvers?
Stay tuned as we continue watching ILP Deathmatches here on THE CHESS CHANNEL…
Oh magius, ah my friend that is most uncool. I know I threw in the towel after your third move but you kept me in it and I found my way out of the early shit I created (really shitty opening, on my part). I’m very dissapointed (probably because I recognize as well that the heat is on you If you wish to continue that’s great, if you want another fine by me too. If you don’t want to play chess anymore with me :[ well then so be it.
P.S.
I offer a draw.
Sagesound,
Interesting commentary… You are right to point out that my style is a double edged sword, but that is not to say I do not know the value of retreat - I just don’t like it!
And yes I do love those pawns, but they are absolutly called for givin the current situation. I do not wish to give him any open files and I want all the space I can grab with tempo. And the last pawn move I know came as a deep surprise to maguis for he truly expected (I believe) Bxf4… which would have givin him a chance to take a lead in development with tempo and open up two rook files for the end game, not to even mention a very precarious postion for me on my king side. Not only was that pawn move a good move - grabbed space, opened up a spot for my bishop, created a closed game, and strengethend my center for the endgame - it was a powerful psychological blow to Maguis because with it I began to dictate the shape the game will take. A slow but steady chokehold as I see it.
Furthermore, if you really anyalized the game attacking his knight was a forced move, my only option, for he threatened to win my rook. And as far as the exchange of queens, givin the awful opening I played, it was in my opinion my best variation of all the options that I saw (I spent over two hours making that move!)
And Sagesound, I would love to play a game with you if your interested.
<~~~ still feel like an ass
What happened to your forums anyway, Smooth?
I left it in charge of someone highly incapable of maintaining it. I’ve been running up and down Japan establishing XXI Entertainment, Japan. And since they adore magic out here, I’ve been doing really well for myself. I got hurt a few months ago and recovering well, so now I’m ready to once again go back to my usual deeds.
I’ve also officially changed my stage name. I’m now going to perform under my real name ( Tomas De la Cruz ), while I’m out here. I’m now looking into re-establishing the boards once more, but with less of the hopes I had for it. All in all, TMR was a good place for everyone associated with XXI to meet up on the web. And it was a great tool. But it lacked a few things, like focus. And that is because I’m freaking crazy. Oh well. I’m trying to get it back up and running within 10 days.
Sorry to hear man. Glad your doing well in Japan though; hope all goes well bro.
That day will come, but for the time being, I intend to make you itch with anticipation…muwahaha!
