We know numbers intuitively. It’s a natural outgrowth of our brain’s development as it interacts with the world.
Here, I’ll define “number” for you:

Assuming you recognize the pattern, number is the defining element in this pattern.
The way we write irrational numbers out never terminates, but that’s just convention. The number itself has no extention. It’s not even the kind of thing that can terminate. Look, I can write out pi in two ways: 3.14159265… or

The difference between physics and witchcraft is its reliability. The other questions are just window dressings. You are demanding complete knowledge from finite beings which means that everything in your system “doesn’t exist”. While nihilism has some appeal, it doesn’t actually accomplish anything and if the purpose of philosophy is learning how to live, nihilism fails miserably.

Physics do es exist as properties and interactions of our universe. Our personal brand of physics may just be a good approximation.
And Xunzian gave you a ‘how it works’ in the very same quote you accused him of only caring for ‘it works’. How does a projectile fall? With a parabolic trajectory. What is this parabolic trajectory? A math equation. Ladyjane says math doesn’t exist, however it is exactly the generalization of absolutes into things like math that lets us think and advance as a society.
And by the way, ‘oh it works’ is a very powerful learning tool. I can’t tell you how many experiments I’ve done where I just wanted to get through the thing to the point where ‘it works’. My understanding of such labs was limited. However, by experiencing ‘it works’ again and again you start to recognize what’s going on, figure out the ‘how’, and can then progress onto the next ‘it works’.

What is your alternative to science and math? You obviously believe that science and math are what’s kept us back from “real” advancement and somehow we’re still living as cave men (which is plain silly in my view). Suppose you’re right. What then is the proper course for mankind? What solution are you bringing to the table that will bring us farther than our sciences and mathematics ever could?

I brought up no such idea. In fact, I haven’t even taken a formal stance on the issue. I’m inclined to believe science and math help us, but that’s different from a formal stance.
For the sake of argument, let’s say that I’m convinced by your rhetoric. I renounce my belief that we draw benefits from science and math. Science and math keep us in the dark ages. What can we do about it? How do we bring ourselves out of this era of darkness?
