Medicine as politics, the "sickness" is also the "cure"

“Medicine reinforced cultural values and their political application.” ~FREDERICK M. HODGES

“Medicine, in the terms of civilization, is the application of intentions to bodies, and is related to the ideal of “self-control”, usually a direct engineering or an attempted control over the condition of body. In cultures which idealize a morality so restrictive that it cuts off a part of one’s natural instinct, believing in absolute wrong, the doctors will often also literally cut off parts of the body, so the christians were fantastic in the field of unnecissary surgeries. In vengeful cultures, the “sick” part of the whole body must be destroyed or cut off, justice requires and revolves around punishment, and this would be the psychology of alopathy, aswel as the dept in capitalism. Retribution and “unnatural” interjection are constantly happening in such cultures, and also these cultures tend to be imperialistic, interfering with the nature of other races, and judging them, being so arrogant as to make laws which then are applied outside of the borders of the actual Nation.” ~Dan~

Medicine, like many aspects of our modern world, is meant to correct the effects of previous human meddling into natural ways.

What we call “progress” is mostly the constant reparation of what man has wrought.

What an ideal claims as goal, does not actually portray its real objective, in the same way that a politician’s words rarely show the hidden ways behind his displays.
