I understand the first part of the above, but…does anyone know what “the melange of mystic populist TV consciousness culture crap that always permeates general philosophy forums?” actually means?

Read just about anything in the Religion forum, and you’ll get a handle on it quickly.
" mystic populist " = “I’m not religious, but I’m very spiritual.” (Said with much gravitas, but never explained.)
"TV consciousness " = “I’m very spiritual, so long as it doesn’t keep me from being hip.”
"culture crap " = “And by ‘hip’, I mean whatever Rolling Stone says is hip.”
