That may be where the law is founded, but the law seems to be evenly applied.

I don’t think that all states should have the same laws. It would be worse if that were so.
Miss. is about 20 or 30 years in the past. This law does not surprise me. I have not heard of it being used here. Its one of those old Fundie laws that fade and gets forgotten until some joker pokes at it.
