I would say more like sins of omission but hypocrisy is also good. Not enough difference in my mind to argue semantics. We are close and nearly on the same page.
The intent of the words were to comfort grieving parents. Not as a directive. If all Christians interpreted the bible the same way, there would not be so many sects.
Saying dogma, would apply to the more strict or orthodox sects, which are very few overall. Most would agree that we are here to learn. To deliberately slaughter your child so that it may go to heaven in utter ignorance would be not only wrong but, selfish. Doing so would be more to salve your emotions then for your child. This is wrong.
To purposely allow ignorance in order to keep pain away is foolish. Harm and pain are parts of learning. If you love your child you allow it to grow. Most average Christians know this. To deprive life that god gave would be arrogance. A life is to grow and learn. Death and pain is not just about the person it happens to. It affects and teaches those around them, well that is ,average people around them. Some create harm and these are necessary.
Life is not about good or bad it is about learning. Some must die young for others to change the species abilities to grow.
I am an atheist.
To challenge a belief fully you must fully comprehend and know why, what and how they believe. Words in a book are just the skin of a body. Its how the words are felt, understood and believed that are important. It is that, that you fail to understand. I deeply love and respect all of my religious family and friends as they do me.
In fact out of all the people I know, only my husband, son and I are atheists.
Well put and accurate for what life is like and all about. ----- To a non-believer.
To a believer, the little mistakes that strengthen us are what will send that child to hell forever and eternity is a lot longer than this puny lifespan. A believer will not see strengthening, he will see disaster and that is why to him, mercy killing is definitely the right thing to do. The child, to that parent, only has two roads. One has life here and a poor end in eternity or a short satay here and eternal bliss.
Bliss is what that parent should choose for his or her child. That means mercy killing.
Crazy but true if you believe the garbage they do.
Tell that to the woman who got raped and murdered. Tell that to an African child dying of starvation. Tell that to a Syrian child, whose parents are both butchered and whose legs are blown off. Thank god for the lessons, right? And you think those things are necessary? That we’re better off WITH them? As long as people have that kind of an attitude towards evil, that it is acceptable and necessary, human race won’t make moral progress.
Multiple accounts of god killing and ordering the killings of people, HERE: evilbible.com/Murder.htm . That much for taking the 6th commandment seriously.
