Moderation in all things...

Many of the far-left and far right people on this board give me headaches. I think that the past century, (or even the past decade,) have demonstrated that any kind of “pure” political/social philosophy is doomed to failure simply because it operates in a vaccuum. ‘No compromise’ philosophies operate soley on ideals and don’t take into account real world problems that may occur with the system. Marx’s communist dream produced povery, dictatorship and a devaluation of the individual, while Ayn Rand’s dream of pure capitalism, when gone unnoticed behind closed doors, has produced corruption, enequal opportunities and a devaluation of the social. I firmly believe that a moderate attitude, though it’s slower and not as flashy, is a crucial component in addressing the problems of government.
