Modernity is intriguing; a, rather, polar contrast to the not too distant past of Puritanic social dominance. What happened? Why the sudden transition to the extreme contrary?
Is modernity the manifestation of years of collective libidinal suppression? The more you suppress an aspect of self, the greater the urge grows.
Decadence : decadence |ˈdekədəns|
noun
moral or cultural decline as characterized by excessive indulgence in pleasure or luxury: he denounced Western decadence.
• luxurious self-indulgence.
Degenerate: degenerate
adjective |diˈjenərit|
Having lost the physical, mental, or moral qualities considered normal and desirable; showing evidence of decline: a degenerate form of a higher civilization.
Modern degeneracy and decadence go ’ hand-in-hand’. There is no regard for moral-excellence and nobility. To them, everything is centered around the now, the immediate. They have no notion of balance; their lives are centered around vulgar hedonism, the opposite of Puritanic abstinence.
Stupidity = The New ’ Cool ’
To be intelligent and eloquent = lame, uncool. To be stupid and inarticulate = cool. This is something I observed, clearly, in High-school. Whenever I spoke to peers using ’ big words ', I was told that I sound too White and nerdy, i.e., not cool. For these moderns, these degenerates, it’s considered desirable to use ebonics in conjunction with semi-drooling facial expressions - throw in some sagging pants that expose 80 percent of your trousers, an XXL shirt, and a trinket, and you are good to go - you are cool!
