Between the two arguments there is an eschatological difference. The state of present day mankind, can be likened allegorically to a reversion, a
devolved sense toward earlier forms of behavior. This present morality may be likened to an inverted paradigm, in which, earlier species share more and more morphological similarities are denoted. It becomes, rather like, a birds eye view, of the scope of evolution. It is a faux evolutionary relationship of schematic gradients of effects, a sort of back look into the origins of the species.

How different is a casual back look, rather then the actual participation, almost on the level of a mystique,
of the struggles of the jungle! In that sense, morality can be ascribe similarly inter specie, and the argument can be made for the origin of morality at
the earliest levels.

Man is not particularly higher for that cow, who is perhaps only seen as food, if the cow had even a modicum of realization.

That is why I refuse to be a Buddhist, I hate to think of myself of having to go through that chain of evolution again. Christianity is way more comforting.

If a living thing is programmed a certain way, to a certain degree or way of living then it is not immoral. It’s nature, not a matter of moral or immoral and we are in no position to label those things as such.

So, what are you saying here, Artimas, that a psychopath’s and a rapist’s behavior cannot be construed as immoral simply because they feel they’ve been programmed a certain way?
When we’ve crossed that “bridge” into consciousness, as humans we are capable of transcending our natural instincts, those which lead to harm to self or others.

Natural instinct isn’t a matter of moral/immorality.

But how we respond to these instincts DO become a matter of morality or ethics.

A spider luring it’s mate into food isn’t immoral, it’s the spiders way to eat easily, it is natural. It doesn’t matter what category of animal, it will do what it has to to survive, morality cannot touch that, it isn’t even logical.

I absolutely love spiders but they do not have human consciousness. They cannot respond with empathy and compassion.

And there is no such thing as a “higher” animal… We live in a world where our shit grows food and things rely on shit, which then feeds other food that we consume… And you say there are “higher” animals… That is laughable.

Every living thing is higher or lower in a sense than another thing. I love animals but to say what you’re saying is a romantic notion based on perhaps love of animals.
So you would consider a cat equal to a person? although I have found some of these wonderful working dogs, like the seeing eye dog or the dogs or cats who cuddle with cancer patients, especially children, as higher than some human creatures.

There cannot be higher this when it is based on reliance. We cannot claim ourselves higher than the fucking plant and cow, when we rely on it as a source of nutrients and living.

Are you a buddhist, Artimas? I do get what you’re trying to say but still…
If a plant was thrown into the ocean and there was this thunderous wave coming toward you, would you run in to save the plant like perhaps you might if it were a little child about to drown?
The same goes for a cow - would you risk your life to save a cow drowning?

If it was my only dinner you bet your arse I would try saving the cow. This is in terms of surviving. We CANNOT live without nutrients to fuel us. Therefore we rely on your so called “lower animals” to consume, our building structures and being the best land predator here does not mean we are more superior. Makes no logical sense to say our dinner is lower than us just because we can feed off of it. We are the ones that are lower, by having to RELY on these so called “lower life forms”. Sorry, not buying it.

If you’re starving and needing to survive I’d love to see you respond in an ethical manner to instinct then.

The reason it is called the CIRCLE OF LIFE is because there is NO higher or lower. How does this not show blatantly to philosophers of ALL people. You cannot fucking be higher when you rely like a parasite on what you label lower. No lower = no life for you. Guess what, they can sure live with out us “higher” life forms though.

No I am not buddhist, Buddhism was a form of spirituality without dogma and coercion… Now it is another corrupted religion. I am spiritual atheist that can apparently see the bigger picture.

Psychopaths and rapists and those type are a special case, you see… Not mere animals but humans with heightened consciousness. Their being revolves around a mixture of influence and their genes/bio.

Human consciousness does not make us superior to the rest of species, it creates our being able to find higher understanding of our surroundings and being. Then now look at how we “superior” humans squander our ability at understanding the most when we have higher consciousness. So much for that superiority complex.

Again, if I were relying on that plant or animal as my last source of survival then yeah, I would go in after it. Right now we are lucky we have enough to consume. We rely on the rest of the circle and the only thing our heightened consciousness does is determines if we destroy or add onto said circle, and by the looks of it we are destroying it.
