I expect I’m at least one of the targets, if not the target of the “More Warning” post. So, I need to know what you consider racism; specifically, do you consider anti-reverse racism, racism.
And in my own defense, I haven’t used any name calling or personal ad hominem attacks that I know of, even when I a subject to a double standard in that area. I will admit that the delineation isn’t always concrete. I don’t take offense because I don’t give my permission for people to offend me, but if I have made such statements, I’d like to know about it if for no other reason than to know the difference between argument and ad hominem.
BTW, technically there is no such thing as reverse racism, it’s all just racism. But “reverse-racism” has become part of the lexicon meaning retaliation racism. “If you’re going to hate me because I’m black, I’ll hate you because you’re white, even if you stop hating me because I’m black”. If you think it means something else, and I think you must given what brought “More Warning” about, you need to put it in writing for all to see.
Maybe this will make it clear. You’re a racist, and while we seek to include all reasoned views, this board will not become a haven for unexamined racist bile.
It causes a decline in the neighborhood - it lessens the value of this board and therefore of all other posts. Non-racists don’t want to move in, and in fact they move out. Message board blight ensues, and the board is no longer supported. Soon, the whole SS section is on message-board welfare. Crime and drug abuse increases. In other words, you let a couple of racists in and “there goes the neighborhood”.
I consider thinly-disguised racism to be racism. And a hyphenated double negative is a pretty thin disguise. So be careful. As long as I am responsible for this section, I’m not going to tolerate very much of this, no matter how wide-eyed the defenses and protestations of innocence. If it passes as some manner of thoughtful discussion, I’ll let it go - but the standards will be high.
I’ve seen posts in here that have espoused such an intolerable degree of non-intellectually justified (i.e. independent research and fact-checking) racism that Rant House would be worse for containing such posts.
By the way, I know of a Philosophy-ish site where about 75% of the Users are blatant racists and anything goes. Since it also occasionally makes an attempt to have a conversation unrelated to race, I have posted there in two seperate spurts, but I don’t think that I will go back because all threads there eventually lead to racist bitching. Occasionally, someone will step-in and try to defend the race being bitched-out, but that’s not even enough to make it interesting.
I ask what you mean by racism and you respond with that?
And then you say why I shouldn’t move into your neighborhood à la 1970’s era prejudice.
How does anyone know what thinly disguised racism is if you won’t even define what that (your) racism is?
It doesn’t appear that you really care very much about the Truth, only your hegemony. Would that I could hide behind a double negative when I wanted to.
PT - Racism is not my concern. Posts are. I am not going to quote from your posts - the very expressions I find unacceptable. There are many posts we have found unacceptable over the years - I will not recount them all here. I will not get into a debate with you about what is or is not racism, for the simple reason that you would not admit to your racism - so it would be a waste of time.

I have no feckin’ idea what you guys are talking about here, where this argument began, but I’m bored and Faust is from Maine (where you can eat moose), so here’s my unwarranted two cents on this:
ILP is a business. I have no idea how much it makes for its owner, but its a business. You can’t have people round here bringing down the eherm classiness of this place. Think of it as a nightclub. Faust is the big (old) bouncer man and you’re like a scrub trying to get in. ‘Let me in Mr. Bouncer! I have a right to be here, equality and all that stuff!’ Bouncer man says, ‘No way, I don’t think you fit in here.’
Truth is, we are in this board on their terms. It’s a commensalist relationship. We get to post our opinions here and they get to show their ads and stuff. We provide the traffic, they provide the destination. There could suddenly be a rule arising here where, say, the letter ‘B’ is not allowed, and they can do that.
Because it’s ‘their’ fickun webby.

For the record, I’m 1/16 black (good enough for the NAACP, last I recall). If you want family stories about “passing”, ask me. Racism is no mere academic fancy.
…and yet you you say “racism is not my concern” or to state what my trespass is. This is nothing short of a personal attack.
I’ve been a member here for over a year and that this has been below the surface all this time is amazing to me. You refuse to show where I’ve broken the rules or been unreasonable and threaten to sweep me into exile in some out of the way forum with no recourse but PM’s. This will be a big red flag concerning the actual freedom of expression on this board for all those who don’t adhere to some arbitrary measure of intellectuality spouting what you claim is racist bile–even if we obey all the rules.
Bottom line: Racism is just uncool. There’s plenty of it kicking around this site, and I’ll bet there’ll be plenty more. Dress it up in well-considered argument, and we’ll probably let it alone. Give me an excuse, and it goes to Rant, or it goes away.
If the SS board here gets the reputation that racists are welcome, it could ruin the board - because many sensible board sites have an even stricter policy. In the end, all you have to lose is a few minutes of typing. Save your work - there are sites that would welcome it.
