Morning Welcome

To wake without alarm–
That would be nice!
To go out early once
Where the cardinal is already up!
To shed the night wrap,
The swaddling comfort of house and bed.
To go out early once
Without a cigarette or coffee cup
Before some obligation
Calls me indolent
And back inside to compromise
On schedule.
To go out early once and feel
The leisured grace of wecome–
That would be nice!

I liked the flow of this poem.

It reminds me why it’s good to wake up early, but then I remember that I hate waking up early .

Great job though =; high five!

ah…yes, to be up early and not due to a dreaded obligation…
seems the only time I’m up early anymore is when I have yet to get to sleep as the next day is beginning.

Early morning is by far the best time of the day. I haven’t missed a sunrise in five years. (Okay, maybe just a few, but always for good reason). And if you need an alarm, then you need to go to bed earlier.

Yes, “the leisured grace of welcome.” That’s exactly what it is. Well put, Ierrellus.

Wow, lerrelus, you’ve reeled in a winner here. This is the best of yours that I’ve read. I can certainly identify with the sentiment expressed in this poem.

bravisimo,
