Everything has an end. The flower wilts and die. Buildings get old and crumble. Man dies. Heraclitus said everything is becoming. Our mother earth is ill, very ill. Will there come a time when earth is inhabitable? If and when that happens, mankind must be preserved, or do we deserved to be preserved? Which brings me to the next question: are we (humans) seeded from space? Our ancestor whatever that was planet died and they sent the most beautiful brilliant residents to earth and seeded the earth and built the pyramids. Our mother earth is dying and maybe NASA is exploring other planets to send our most intelligent residents to inhabit another planet and introduce the laptop or the cell phone. What do you think?
I think you mean uninhabitable here.
I don’t know if I agree with you wholeheartedly but I think that the human race, from a certain parasitic point of view, can be seen as a virus, one that is quite literally killing its host.
i agree with ok computer, planet isnt alive so it cant be ill…
Justly quote -Will there come a time when earth is inhabitable?
Micks reply - Yup, the bible says it’ll be uninhabitable one day,for example see if you can spot the ozone hole among this litlle lot -
“And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.”(Isaiah 3:24)
Then it’ll be payback time -“The time has come for judging the dead… and for destroying those who destroy the earth” (Revelation 11:18 )
Justly quote -are we (humans) seeded from space?maybe NASA is exploring other planets to send our most intelligent residents to inhabit another planet and introduce the laptop or the cell phone. What do you think?
Micks reply - Certainly God gets around - “praise to the Lord, to him who rides the ancient skies above” (Psalm 68:33-34)
And yes, maybe NASA is hoping to export our marvellous inventions out there such as exciting new game show formats, new flavours of Walkers crisps, boxed sets of X-Files videos etc…
=====
I meant uninhabitable planet. You are saying our mother earth is not alive? Do you see green trees around you, green grass, flowers. From where do they get their life if not nourished by earth and rain. Where do we get our fruits, where do cows get their food is it not from earth. A planet that is not alive is able to sustain living things? When you want a seed to perform its assigned task don’t you need earth? for by itself a seed cannot grow.
the planet is not alive, but life forms live on the planet, u put it the wrong way thats all you say it like a senseless romantic .
whos to say wether the whole human race deserves to carry on living after fucking up the earths enviroment for life, god right ? definatley no human, god can act upon it if it wishes. wats the point of having the trouble to move to another planet when this one is perfect for us, just stop fucking it up or we can either die or live shitty. if the planet getts uninhabitable because of us its wat the human race as a whole wanted.
Nothing and nobody deserves anything.
One earns his place in existence or he perishes and is replaced.
‘Mother Earth’ isn’t “ill”, she’s just changing due to circumstances.
She’s paying the price for enabling life.
Did the dinosaurs “deserve” to perish?
What life cannot adapt to the changing environment will be replaced.
Touche Satyr, I would take even a step further. Everything is made of atoms… let me say it again as it’s important. Everything is made of atoms, this even include things that may end the existence of human life. Do they have a right to this planet? Does this planet have a right to this planet? The universe will continue with or without this planet and with our without human life.
What we’re in danger of losing is balance. Which is the essential argument for conservation, we don’t replace what we take and therefore the world becomes unbalanced and may at some point be unable to support oxygen-breathing life. Much like some say happened to Mars.
He takes it, and doesn’t let anybody take it away?
Sounds like imperialism as a foundationalism…
“Deserve” exists within the “logical” realm of morality and judgment, but I doubt it exists materially.
Hmh…
A rock and a man each are just a lump of atoms, each having equal rights to existance, by the supposed “objective” look at “reality”?
The foundation of “objectivity” is inanimate matter…
Do you think we should switch over to an objective thesis against an subjective question?
The two drones landed on Mars didn’t seem to pick up any traces of physical life.
Satyr quote - What life cannot adapt to the changing environment will be replaced
Yes, and when our bodies die,our soul is released and must adapt to a “new environment”.
That adaptation must begin NOW while we’re still alive -
Jesus said - “The work God requires is to believe in the one he has sent” (John 6:28 )
“Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Philip 2:12 KJV)
In short, we must begin evolving now (spiritually) in order to survive when our death comes…
Many problems but one solution, eh Mick? As Maslow said, “When your only tool is a hammer, all problems begin to look like nails.”
Oh, well… I quit subjectivism. I made it so there is no subjectivity, only objectivity. Hence thoughts are objects now too and they can fall down and get hurt.
To actually answer the original question, I’ll say this; I do not believe we were seeded from another planet, nor do I believe NASA is currently or could hunt another planet for us to seed (perhaps if they were privatized).
Another interesting thought: Are we circumventing evolution by using modern medicine. Would not the deaths of those of our species who were not resistant to certain ailments have made us a stronger race and slowed down our procreation a bit? Would that preserve the ecological balance of our world… can it be preserved?
Can evolution be circumvented? I’d say no. Perhaps we’d be a physically stronger race, but would that do us any good? It wasn’t physical strength that brought us to a point of mastery over the whole planet; it was our intellect. Stronger, faster predators have not hunted so many species so thoroughly to their extinction in the short amount of time we humans have. No, technology is our tool but it’s also of weilded inpartially by evolution. If we can use it to stay one step ahead of circumstances that could eliminate us, then we will thrive. When the day comes that we can’t, we’ll die off, just as millions of other species have before us.
We might be the first species on Earth with an understanding of how we fit into our environment, and the only one with the potential to shape it on a planetary scale to better suit us. Whether or not this is wise is beyond the scope of this discussion, of course.

Here we go again…
No shit Sherlock.
I grew out of my fairy tale and wishful thinking phase decades ago.
I believe I was 15.
You? Still stuck in the fear and hope, huh?!
Here’s some fear:
This is where it becomes ironically absurd; a contradiction unrecognized by a desperate mind seeking a resolution to its anxiety and a way out of its inability to go beyond a certain level of perception:
Thanks for your input…At least you’re trying.
Please, enlighten us with some more quotations from a Book.
Then again: What’s the difference between debating the bible and debating Kant’s writings?
What’s the difference between someone who can only think and talk through the words of a supposed holy Other and those who do the same from multiple sacred others?
When philosophy has cease being about sharing personal insights – with the guidance and influence of another’s…obviously – then it has become institutionalized and religious.
When we call ‘serious philosophy’ the endless debate on scripture, then we have ceased thinking and observing and commenting on it directly - we are offering perspectives on a perspective.
We stop talking about our experiences and talk about another’s views on his experiences adopted as our own: Academics.
Dan~
Huh?!
The “taking away†amounts to dying.
Maybe the English guy can explain how one evolves when all evolving ceases but in my mind holding on is what life is all about.
We are all holding on to our own little piece of the whole.
When another entity takes something away from you he is decreasing your existence and assimilating it within his own.
Ideology and individualism are not compatible.
When I aspire towards common ideals I defer my identity to that of another’s. I lose myself within the otherness. I adopt a persona and an identity.
Social creatures are automatically less individualistic than not-social ones.
They sacrifice a piece of themselves to gain indirect power through association.
Can this be entirely avoided?
Perhaps not.
This is why identity is a farce.
If man were capable of becoming a being he would not need to cooperate with others to do so.
He has given up on self when he seeks realization through a larger whole.
He seeks communal Self.
There can only be degree of it (self).
The more discriminating a mind is, in the service of a unity, the more of an individual it is, without ever reaching completion.
I don’t know how exactly you mean it but if my guess is right then… yes “imperialism†of the ‘I’. The individual unity battling against disassimilation to retain its identity as that which segregates itself from the whole to make order possible within its self-ascribed boundaries.
Authoritarianism is a negative concept when the authority is external from the unity; when the power of another replaces our own. Authoritarianism within the boundaries of self, imposed on the self, is called discipline, confidence, will-power, control.
When I eat I am imposing my authority over another creature and assimilating it by force. I am being Imperialistic.
Difference being that the rock is an arbitrary unity created by the conscious mind through negation. It does not exist as a distinct entity on its own. It lacks the ability, unlike annimated matter, to differentiate itself from the background.
Now, the same can be said about a man or any conscious, animated matter, being, life, but in this case the arbitrary unity is seeking to become a being using awareness to differentiate itself from the background, seeking to find order and power and identity, whereas the rock is left to chance and cannot be distinguished from a mountain or a planet unless someone, outside it, chooses to.
A rock lacks a will, along with stability, to deal with its condition.
A man lacks only stability.
Shouldn’t all evaluations be as objective as possible so as to facilitate the creation of a subjective choice?
We cannot know absolute truth, or absolute anything, but we can deduce and induce it and use it to establish strategies that will enable us to shape our subjective being. We can impose our truth on the universe by first understanding it and using it to our advantage. Shaping it with our Will.
I am not one of those who believe that man creates his own reality.
I believe man is forced to exist within his own reality, whether this reality is accurate or not.
I can wish certain realities away by denying them as being real but I cannot make them go away in this way. I can only ignore and reinterpret them to my liking.
But I still pay the price.
Civilization pays the price for placing a manmade reality over a pre-existing one.
The Earth’s woes, in relation to our biology, are exactly this: we’ve replaced a previous reality with a manmade one and we are paying the price because we’ve failed to perceive it accurately to begin with.
We’ve appropriated inanimate matter to a degree and the universe is resisting our plans.
We’ve failed to consider all the ramifications of our acts, because we haven’t thought enough and acted more, and now we are forced to invent solutions to problems we’ve caused through our haste and misunderstanding.
Our extinction – if it occurs – will be the natural outcome of a failed experiment.
Our beliefs don’t matter. We will live according to the rules and in accordance to a ‘truth’ we can only guess at even while we’re denying it and pretending that our Will already has power over it.
A Will’s power is through understanding.
You cannot assimilate what you’ve failed to digest. It all comes out as feces.
Matter which is usable and recognizable is assimilated into muscle and bone and blood. It becomes part of the unity that appropriated it.
Absolutes are non-existing since reality is changing as soon as we manage to form an opinion on them and they remain in flux because they lack completeness and therefore can never be absolute.
Consciousness is matter trying to establish an absolute and cease being; it is matter becoming more efficient.
But matter is predominately unconscious and therefore unaffected by conscious matter’s evaluations and hopes and preferences.
I can believe I can fly but gravity does not care what I believe. It’ll force me to pay the price for my mass and for my error in judgment.
The English dude can believe in God, as some conscious guy with a beard sending His only son to save us from a sin we were born with, but this will not make it so. It’ll only make him live his life as if it were so and sacrifice all other possibilities to this desperate, hopeful, fearful one.
It is his way of deferring responsibility for his existence upon another and then groveling for consideration.
It is his way of dealing with the universe’s indifference.

The world is “unbalanced’ on its own.
If it were balanced it would not evolve or change.
What man calls “balance†is the consistent, predictability of the flow caused by instability.
Certain long-term patterns are established offering the facade of permanence and order.
Physics tells us that entropy is increasing. That can mean that the universe is becoming more and more complicated so as to make it incomprehensible to man or it can mean that it ceases having order and becomes more and more lacking, making it lack any patterns at all.
It is hopeful to consider the increase in entropy as simply being a more complicated ordering which man fails to grasp but then why would this entire charade with life even be necessary when order already exists?
Is the universe trying to suffer for its own ignorance by creating animated matter which can become aware of its own fate?
The universe is in flux. It is in flux because it lacks something.
We do not need to replace anything since existence is about appropriation.
We take, we absorb, we use so as to establish what the universe lacks.
The lacking feeding on the lacking.
We are the universe becoming conscious of its self.
We are, so to speak, God’s senses and mind trying to make sense of its self.
We are God trying to find an identity. His weakness is our own.
A unity establishes an arbitrary boundary ( it calls everything within its authority ‘inside) and then tries to assimilate the rest (what it calls ‘outside’).
This is necessary because a Will is helpless to establish order in the whole. It is a part and therefore subordinate to the whole.
It therefore segregates itself trying to find a piece of order, timelessness, perfection, within the seemingly chaotic whole.
It discriminates to establish identity. It feeds to absorb the whole into itself and become self-reliant and timeless.
Each consciousness, each life is a piece of the whole trying to absorb the entirety into it’s self and gain power over it’s self. The conflict occurs when each consciousness represents a different strategy and attempt battling with other’s for dominance through conflict.
The best strategy for self-realization dominates seeking to impose its Will on the entirety and establish inertia through perfection.
Then again we could say that there is stability and order in the change and that it’s all part of a greater perfect whole.
But then why would something stable need to alter?
Alter into what?
Why would something stable need to change and what would it change into: something less stable?
I can entertain the notion that all of this is beyond my comprehension and that my idea about perfection and stability are imprecise and subjective. This is why I remain skeptical about everything including my own opinions and why I share my views and test them.
Another looooooong one.
