[movie] The Chronicles of Narnia

i will first start out by saying, while i plan to, i have not yet read the book of this movie. i’m sure it was much better. books tend to be better than their theatrical counterparts, from what i understand.

however, the movie itself was amazing. i really enjoyed it. a synopsis (that i cannot take credit for):

there is quite a bit of symbolism in this story as well. jadis, the white witch, represents satan and the power of evil in our world. aslan, of course, represents God, who rules the world but is not always easy to find. peter pevensie is representative of the apostle peter, who is willing to fight for his faith and for his god. susan pevensie represents someone who grows up with her faith but loses it as she grows older. edmund pevensie is the symbol of a few things, the apostle judas being the major one. he is also a symbol of adam in the garden of eden and all of us, who fell astray but by grace are given the chance to turn ourselves around. and lucy pevensie represents the faith that we are all asked to have in God. last, the stone table symbolizes the cross of Jesus.

a very good movie, like i said. though i admit it is very “christian.” if you have something against this, you may not enjoy it quite as much as i did.

Creation,

This seems to be more of an analysis of the movie’s religious subtext rather than a review. That’s why I’ve moved it to Mundane Babble.

Also I think that the themes of death and reasurection in this film, while being Christian based are universal. The dyining god(dess) has been an archetype in mythology since the beginning of time. I think that even though Lewis was telling a Christian alagory I think it can also be read as something more universal.
