Murderers, Robbers and Compassion

Today I watched the news and heard about Brian Nichols, the man that killed so many people and hurt so many lifes. As I sat there and watched the news reporters speak of how evil and how horrible this man was(which is understandable) I sat there in agreement. Right up until i heard the woman which was made hostage. It made me remember a book i had recently read Les Miserables and the character Jean Valjean and about all the torment and abuse and hatred he had to go through from society. She spoke of his sorrow and their connection. It just made me realise how much people put the belief in their head that once a horrible act has been done that the person is no longer human…hes a monster!!! etc…I just wish more people were empathetic and tried more to understand these “horrible people” than to be so quick and judge them …should he be put away yes…but i wish society would be quicker to understand then judge…your thoughts?

What would propose we do with him, once we’ve completely understood him?

Obviously he should be in prison. I’m merely saying that they still are human and capable of thought. we should not label people as “monsters” though their actions may have been.

IMO: I don’t see why we should give them benefit of the doubt and spend so much effort. When those effort can be used better else where.

Call me harsh but that lady who was taken “hostage” seems to be moochin off the media. I mean she’s been doing like news reports ever since.

Learning man, I really like that quote.
